ello fellow enthusiast!!!
Need some help
72 fastback new to me.
Had a shop do some suspension work front and rear. All worn out. .(not VW specialist)
Replaced rear axles
Lowered the car only one notch.
But now I have a noticeable negative camber(too angled in)
What was not done or done wrong ? |

First thing I'd check is to see if the spring plate bushings are worn out. _________________ Немає виправдання для війни! Я з Україною.

Yup, as that should have been done when lowering the rear (those parts have to come off anyway). But dropping it 1 spline will cause negative camber in the rear. It's designed to do that. It's not really enough to cause excessive tire wear though. Even stock, the IRS rear with some age WILL have some negative camber. The rear tires don't sit straight up. On my Notch (with IRS) has 50 year old spring sag, and negative camber. My wife's 70 Fastback has Squareback torsion bars in it, and the rear tires do sit almost straight up (has maybe 2 to 3 degrees of negative camber. Just something to keep in mind. _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof

Did you check the camber before you adjusted the suspension? If so the most hopeful solution is new bushings - DO NOT GO URETHANE. Bent trailing arms are another possibility, but from your pictures, I kind of doubt it, but they do bend over time. My 73 SB is using 69 bug arms, because mine were badly bent. Normal driving doesn't bend the arms. it is when the suspension bottoms.
As far as urethane bushings, yeah they will last forever, but no matter how you lube them, they will always squeak squawk as the suspension moves. _________________ 69 road Bug 2110
