I purchased a golden orange flake manx a year ago in south carolina. The guy told me his uncle bought it on the west coast years and years ago. I was sitting outside for years when I purchased it. I don't think it was ever painted though. I have it registered in the manx registry. Too bad you don't have the body numbers. I've got it torn down for restoration at the moment.
