I couldn't believe my eyes this morning when I happened upon a 1980 vanagon L in the santa fe springs ecology center boneyard. I liberated the
steel filler neck and breather tube from her for a whopping 15.00. that place is expensive. the only thing that makes these yards worth the trouble now is their half off days they have every 3 months on undisclosed days. the hatch and slider were lumpy and the engine a ball of grease.

my filler neck in my 90 is plastic and leaks when full. someone already got the trans and the steer column plastic/brown. just don't see them in the yards like this anymore. this qualifies as "have you seen one lately?"

Hmm. Wonder If would get the sliding side window cheaply.
Although the trip from Norway to Santa Fe might not make it worthwhile _________________ 1967 Bug (euro) |

Aren't the filler necks different sizes for those years? |

not sure about the filler neck, but those sliders were intact but faded. all the felt seals are intact. the rear side windows are ventless too.

If you check under the engine for a thermostat, you could make an air cooled driver's day (and some $ for your efforts). _________________ -------
