For a '75 Scirocco? BUY IT!
These are hard to find. First year of the 'rocco and the ONLY year you don't have to smog in CA.
There's a guy who has a '78 or '79 Scirocco on Craigslist in SF Bay Area every now and then, and IIRC he posts it up for <1,000. Buy both and make a sweet '75! |

Saw that one on CL last night and posted it up on NorCalVW. No smog!!! My wife punched me in the nuts when I told her I wanted it. Now that I see it, I want it even more! Great score and enjoy it. _________________ 64 Type II

OUCH!!! Shame on me for asking her first, lol. That is why I have the 59 single cab. I didn't ask... If you are ever free on a Satuday night you should swing by the sacwater GTG and talk to Vince about parts. He is a MKI whore and has a shed full of stuff. Also, I see these 76-77 out at PNP from time to time. Parts are the same so keep your eyes open. This is such a hard car to come by and a great score. I hope you realize it and do something great with the car. _________________ 64 Type II

Thanks. i will do my best. i will locate Vince. he sounds like my new friend. i am going to tow it home saturday and assess the situation. this thing has been sitting under a tree since 1990 and the back window has been out for who knows how long. there a crapload of leaves and dirt inside. im amazed it isnt rusty. my primary concern is finding a steering wheel by saturday
heres an engine shot. we'll see if i can get it fired this weekend

went picknpullin today. found a wheel at sunrise. not a rocco wheel, but its nice and it will do for now. i went to the stockton blvd location and found a nice 79 there. i got the hatch and center console and the rain gutter trim off of it. there was a steering wheel there but it wasnt that nice and it was missing the horn button , so i passed on it.

Mike, tarp it and get 3-4 bug bombs and set them off!!! You will be amazed at all the black widows that end up dead under it. _________________ 64 Type II

used to hang out here quite a bit, now im back cause the vortex is all effd right now...
awesome project!
i traded out of an 87 wolfe rocco into this about 4 months ago. the wolfe was trashed and i have friends that own a wrecking yard, beleive it or not this was destined for the crusher
It's an 80 1.6l, the only body damage is the pass door got side swiped a bit, absolutely no rust anywhere, literally,
all it needs to be driveable.
radiator
exhaust
shifter bushings
thermo switch
thermo
a lot of the parts you need can be sourced through parts4vws.com, if they don't have what you need call them, there's a lot of schit they don't list.
good luck on the project man and yay for saving another endangered species!![/img] _________________ current mess in my driveway:

No, its not vomit, its mud.
the back window was out of it. apparently, it was pulled out of the backyard a while back via a truck and a muddy pathway. the tires from the truck slung mud all over the interior. its a real mess, but it will be worth the clean up |
