Any other items I should address with the dash out? |
Have you tried a coat hanger?
The squirter line feeds from the driver side.. Should not be at all difficult to pull it close to top and then grab with some hemostats (sp?)
I don't think it can fall down very far.
I'd work that wire a good amount of time before I'd resort to pulling the dash.
Some light directed from below (glove box open) may help you see a little down inside, too. _________________ -89 GL Westy, SVX.. finally.

thank you X10
I tried for awhile from the outside with a hanger but your idea of the hemostats (correct sp) is excellent
I actually have a pair |

I just got done putting my van together after painting and the hardest part was fishing out the washer lines. I used a hemo on the passenger side.
With the gauge cluster out I could snake my arm in for the drivers side.

I got the new nozzles on but only after unbolting the wiper motor on the passenger side, moving it out of the way enough to have access to the small space just under the windshield. After positioning the hose and using a flashlight I was able to fish it out with the Hemostats. Great suggestion!!
A tip for anyone doing this mod is to get a Hemostat locked onto the washer tube while removing the nozzle. It will make your life a lot easier.
Thanks to everyone's suggestions! |

did we decide which nozzles are best? The 50 euro ones? The Porsche ones from pelican parts? I can't stand the stupid OE ones... |
All I can tell you is that the Porsche nozzles I got from Pelican work great. It took a bit of trial and error to get them positioned just right but they have worked flawlessly since. 1000X better than OE!

The triple nozzle units are plug and play.
I have had them for years and love them.
The only limiting factor seems to be price for some.
Since owning my sets I have heated them and the lines.
A really treat to drive with in winter weather. |

I need a new dichtung. My dichtung leaks. The Fullrohr just isn't as tight going into the Dichtung as it used to be. It's been stretched out over time. I guess with 27 years of useage it just gets that way. Maybe my Fullrohr has just gotten smaller?
Just replaced my pumpe fur Scheibenwisch Und Washanlage and man does that ever make a difference. Is there a way to adjust the Dusentralger mit Spitzduse's? I'm talking the stock Dusentraglers, though.
My new Pumpe shoots the fluid up to my sunroof. in 30degree weather on the highway.
I've thought about changing to a two prong approach, but i'm getting good distance, it's just the accuracy that needs attention. |

The leak at the dichtung is the improved "FULL" indicator for the tank.
Stop filling when your shoes get wet...
The washer nozzles themselves are adjustable. There is a small metal ball which
rotates in the nozzle - just use a pushpin or needle to aim it however you like. _________________ 86 White Wolfsburg Westy Weekender

I'm not sure if it's been mentioned in this thread, but I recently noticed that LR Discovery rear wiper squirters are dual outlet and stand off a bit from the body. Might be a decent option if a part number and source can be identified. _________________ Casey--

I think sometimes people think spending a ton on a simple item somehow gets them a "superior" product
These pelican nozzles are also made by SWF,and look great, work even better!
These are the ones to get,IMHO. |

I'll bite since I'm the only one that has admitted here to buying the ones from Germany. To set the record straight, the 50€ ones are three-way nozzles. The German two-way nozzles that I bought are 17€. The Pelican are two-way nozzles. At the time, I bought other items not available in NorthAmerica like headlight guards so I didn't specifically pay for shipping of the nozzles. How much are the Pekican with shipping? Not really that big of a difference. I actually like the looks of the German better but that is just my taste. I would expect both to work about the same. No rocket science here.
If you are not purchasing other stuff from the German website then I don't think it makes sense to buy the German ones, go with the Pelican (unless you don't like them) _________________ 1991 Westy auto w/ Peloquin TBD

I got these:
http://t3technique.com/accessories/dual-nozzle-windshield-squirters/
I almost lost the passenger side line... but gladly i didn't...
they're a bit of a chore to aim, but i finally got them dialed in. _________________ ----------------------------------------------------

Revisiting this post after noticing that my Jeep has a "spray" nozzle that works superior to anything I've seen. What about a spray type nozzle < $50 for a Vanagon? Ideas? _________________ Westy HID Projector Retrofit |
