I have been making a walk thru VW Bus rear 1/4 interior panels for some time now but lately I have been told the tire rubber / mounting holes are different than my master panel that I made off a friends '71 Bus!

The top one is my regural rear 1/4 panel with 6 1/2" fro the rear to the mounting 2x holes and the bottom is a new one with 3 holes about 8" back from the rear edge....

My question to those owners....anyone know the year split on them? '68 - '70 and then '71 - '79 on the walk thru with the spare back there?

Thanks to anyone that posts an answer....

My 71 has the older bay style rear hatch, that 78 hatch didn't fit, but the window did.

The rear hatch panel is from 1964 thru 1975 18 holes and the 1976 - 1979 only has 14 attachment holes.

But I'm asking about just inside on the left (and the right) side panels....

Oh sorry, that final fit stuff was always custom in my book. Are you building those super plasticy panels I see for sale? Does anything stick to them?

So the top panel RocketRod? The 6 1/2" away panel...thank you.

airic, Yes I have been making them for nearly 20 years but my dealers never promoted them. So when my ROP Plastic job training teaching job went away, I went retail on them.

But since I don't have a yard full of buses here....it is hard to figure out the year break downs.

My part time employee stopped by last night with his '71 Bus and top panel fits it like a glove.

So I'm guessing it is a '71 - '79 and the bottom one is a '68 - '70 panel.

I'll have to go back and redo all my ads now... Rolling Eyes

The top one looks like it's for a disc brake bus and the bottom looks like the wide 5 style.

That made my day....brakes determine the rear 1/4 panels! Laughing Laugh with me and not at me...

Wasn't that the year break down '68 - '70 wide 5 with drums and '71-'79 disc brakes in the front and small lug pattern?

Thanks again, BusDaddy it does help!

vdubzen, your order went out yesterday! Thank you!

Here's another Q that deals with the rear 1/4 panels....what year did the front non walk thru bay window buses started or ran from?

My '73 is a non walk thru but....when did they start and run thru '79?

It will matter with the rear spare stored in the back or not...
