|
|
I am in a pinch to pickup a vanagon with an auto tranny(87) the towshop said towing it with the rear wheels on the ground won't ruin the trans... I called BS and am looking for a flatbed shop.
Am I correct though? |

You are correct, sir!
The Bentley says you can flat tow auto vans up to 30 miles and up to 30 mph, but not farther or faster.
You could always disconnect the drive shafts from the rear wheels, but trailer towing is a bit easier. Way to stand up for your (soon-to-be) van!
Good Luck!

If you decide to flat tow the vehicle just disconnect the cv joints.
Just my 2¢

You have several different options;
Back the ass end of the Van into the dollies, and tie off the steering wheel to the vent window post--so the steering stays kinda locked in one place.
Drive the front end in the dollies and start the engine & let it idle so you don't burn up the trans pump.
Drive the front wheels into the dolly and drop the rear axles.
Or--the best & easiest idea is to just trailer it--- _________________ T.K. |
