Trying to fit 5x130mm wheels to lowered Bay. I want 185/60/15 tires but with the bolt on wheel adapter the tires hit fenders. Is there a brake drum option drilled to 5x130 or rear disc option to make these fit? I think I can get 165/60/15 to fit but prefer the wider 185's. New too VW buses and looking for some knowledge |

The only thing I can think of that would be worse than putting tires with a load index of 84 on yous Bus would be putting tires with a load index of 77. _________________ SL |

Agreed but that's what I'm working with. Its an upgrade from what it had 145-55-15 and 155-60-15. The good news is I have towing service and it it pops the Bus is already on the ground so it wont be a hard landing.
Just keeping it positive and trying to find a solution. Thanks for the input |

There are a lot of Load C or Load D tires in 15" or 16" that will fit but if you want to use the tires you have and the adapters, you may have to look for rims with a higher ET (Offset) so that they will fit.
Check your local Craigslist or Facebook Marketplace, etc for 5x130 rims with an ET of 45 to 55 or look for used Mercedes steel rims in the size you need and an ET in the 30 to 44 range as they will bolt on without adapters or modifications. Aluminum Mercedes rims look nice but you may have to get longer wheel studs to use them.
I have a set of 5/8" 5x112 to 5x114.3 adapters and run 16"x 6.5" ET 40 Chrysler Rims with 215/65/16 Nokian Extra Load SUV tires and they just clear the fenders. If you can't find Load C or D tires, the Extra Load tires work well too and can be a more affordable price.
Passenger tires are not ideal but if you are only driving around town to car shows or infrequently, they will work. I drove my 73 panel bus fully loaded with gear around the US (30,000 miles over 2.5 years) using passenger tires and other than a few holy shit moments on really windy days, I never had a problem, and only had one flat tire from picking up a nail. It drove like a boat though, very floaty so not ideal. _________________ *******************************

CSP are selling drums with 5x130 pcd:
https://www.csp-shop.com/en/csp/brake-drum-rear-5x130-501-6467-5130-24460d.html
For the front i don't think there is anything off the shelf. usual route is to go with porsche 944 hubs.
As others have stated, a bus is a heavy thing and you should get tyres that are appropriately load rated to carry the weight.
oh, and you'll need a spare that's also 130pcd obvs _________________ @the_bus_journey |
