Thanks, brother. I thought you'd dig it the most. Been a long travel for this bus to get here. _________________

On of the last goodies I wanted to add to this project finaly arrived. It was lost in customs - UK customs for atleast 2 and a half months. Stuff that gets lost there, tends to stay lost. Feeling fortunate at the moment sice these are very nice examples.
I should be putting these in hopefully this weekend.

Ok. Got two weird noises coming from the buses - yes this is one and Ill post the noise on the 77 here in a bit.
This noise - high chirping sounds like the alternator? Bearing in the back plate? Not sure. As I go through the carbs, sync and finishing off the back, this is one of the things I need to fix.
Not quite sure what it is.

I moved onto a couple of finer details. I added the last goody I plan to put on the bus. Ambulance fans. These don't do a heck of a lot but are cool to have nonetheless. Just another nice M Code addition to the bus.

Now for the mundane. A project I've been putting off, and now its the last "big" thing to do. Jalousie window rebuild.
Fortunately, the condition of these windows are excellent. A testament to the 50k miles on this bus. They weren't left open while driving the bus everywhere allowing all the connection points to oblong and open up. Good old Karl gave me the advice to keep my windows closed when driving. I had no clue at the time since I had just entered Westfalian Bay ownership. Thanks again buddy
So here are some boring shots of me doing the deed for posterity.

Jason, lots of activity on the Book lately...
Seriously though, are the ambulance fans worth the time, money, and installation? I'm thinking with the smaller cabin (double cab) they could actually been enjoyed? |
I can see them being of more use in a more humid climate, where any air being blown on you is good. Other than that... not really
Im a big fan of accessories. Anything outside the norm and not often seen gets my attention. In my dealings with selling off VW's I've owned in the past, the accessorized go for bigger monies. _________________

- Finish Jalousie
- Hook up the rear heater distribution boxes and accordions
- Wire in the trailer hitch
- Seat belts
- Side markers
- Put on splash pan
- Paint the underside with waxall or undercoat - some areas not all
- Ball joints and tie rod ends
- Register it
- Passenger side jail bar
That's all I can think of for now? Shittyest jobs I don't want to do is the Jalousie and underside paint, but I'll do them. It cant all be front fart fan install. I'll have the shop down the street do the ball joint tie rods for me. After that, drive it around for a bit then list it for sale.

Had to play musical mufflers this morning. Ended up putting the Vintage speed on the 74 and the stock one on the 77.
This is without any muffler on

Notchboy, glad you got that sorted out. Is the OEM exhaust going to choke that Camper Special? Or is the camper special designed for OEM exhaust. Just curious. See you in March _________________ Keep on Busin'

When Abscate is getting weird and or random and or so cerebral it takes Sunnydog, Raygreenwood, SGKent or Team East Coast to decipher what he said, its best to leave it keep.
The Laurance Fishburn reference is definitely one of his low brow, easy road references. Perhaps he was a bit lazy or hung over that day?
He did use excelent grammar and speiling.
Some proof vids for Vintage Speed.

Id rather do two beam r&r’s over that jalousie. My patience and finesse is maxed out with torches, air guns, and BFH’s.
Im sure it will look smashing when done, and then I can hate again.
And then of course I will mumble and curse as I pull mine out and tear it apart. I think you said something to the effect of “ keeping up with the Jones’s” one day.
Your last name aint Jones by any chance? _________________ You can't be a real country unless you have a beer and an airline. It helps if you have some kind of a football team, or some nuclear weapons, but at the very least you need a beer. Zappa
