|
|
I'm ready to button up my turbo motor.. just wondering what torque some of you guys are using for the thru bolts on an aluminum case?
Mine is an early arpm or a todd francis.. not sure since it has no markings... But it has the six thru bolts with nuts and washers on each end.

ARPM cases use 45 foot pounds on the through bolts. |

Thanks 2many! They don't have lock washers or locking nuts on the thru bolts, should i use any sealant or loctite? Also, what do you normally torque the nuts to around the parting line? |

Torque the perimiter bolts the same as stock. They are studs just like the stock case and you don't want to pull the threads out. The reason you can torque the 6 main bolts is that they are through bolts instead of studs. With the studs in a stock case you are pulling on one half of the case from the inside and pushing on the other side of the case from the outside. It makes uneven pressures on the case. You should not need much sealant on the nuts as the shuffle pins should make it so there is not much oil on the bolt (if the shuffel pins fit tight). Just use plain washers under the bolt and nut. |
