Hi all,
I'm doing a resto on my bus, front windscreen is scratched, bad enough to warrant replacement.
I've never actually camped out so not sure if its worth the extra money or not to buy a heated one.
Would you fit a heated front window screen to your bus, when you've camped out have you wished you had one.
Now is the time, its a bit extra but if its worth it ...
Any input

| I wouldn't think that camping would have anything to do with them being useful, rather just for the van's general inability to defrost the front window when driving in very cold weather, where the heated option would help speed up your defrosting of your viewing area. |

Yes, condensation will build up while you're inside sleeping... so what? This will happen on all windows, not just the windshield. When the sun comes up ( ) it will quickly dissipate. You seriously want to burn through your battery while parked and camping just to keep the front windshield from fogging? As stated, the only reason for a heated windshield is to assist defrosting in cold climates... nothing to worry about in that part of the world. If your stock heating system is in full working order and your fresh air vent works, you will not have any problems with fogging whilst driving. _________________ 1975 Westfalia Helsinki - 1800 EFI w/ Pertronix

In a damp place like England having a heated windshield might be a plus, not for camping, but for normal driving. Many newer cars with way more air reaching the windshield than an ancient bus, use dried air from their A/C units to dry and clear the windshield.
I keep a windshield wiper blade sitting on the dash to wipe the moisture off the inside on my windshield, but would love to have some heat in the windshield to keep as much moisture from building up in the first place.
Don't know what the heated windshield cost, but it might well be worth the extra. |
