Bus depot is offering the original curtains from the original manufacturer but the price will kill you. http://www.busdepot.com/details.jsp?partnumber=230070614

Just resurrecting this old thread ...

Bought a dying product specifically for Polyester fabrics: iDye Poly from Jacquard Products based your side of the pond.

I'm planning to test dye my front windscreen curtain at the weekend and wondered if anyone had used this product and what the results where?

Also, anyone got any idea how much *weight* of fabric makes up all the curtains? One pack will do up to 3lbs of fabric.

Cheers

Thanks for testing that out! I was also wondering if a re-dye will work or not. Looking forward to seeing the results!

Right. Finally got the pot to boil it all up. I'm happy with how it turned out. Don't know about the fastness of the colour in sunlight, but its better than it was . You need to Google iDye Poly. You don't get much colour choice. I chose brown.

After (need some ironing):

Don't know why one came out more brown that the others. Maybe it was more faded and could take more colour?

Cheers

Thanks for the responses everyone...looks like I will keep on searching for the correct...or close to correct fabric...read some old posts and found some information on Sunbrella fabrics..and looks like they may have a brown (canvas cocoa#5245)...am ordering a sample ($1.42 shipped). We are lucky to have a seamstress friend, who has been able to replace the zippers on several of the original plaid cushion covers we have found...will keep you posted. Thanks again, Bob

Sunbrella is awesome. It is what they make sail covers out of. Lasts a very long time in the sun. We have it on our bus. Nice to work with and sew, dark when closed and gathers well when open.

Sunbrella is the way to go, will not fade.
