Back by the tail light I did notice the grounding point had melted a bit into a black wire on the loom. I moved all that but that didnt help. I just hope the melted loom is not grounding furthor back inside the cover.

There's no grounds in the loom so if it is touching something it's feeding power to it, the easy way to tell would be remove the fuse and connect a meter to the load side, then power all the other things in the loom by using the signals, brake and backup lights, etc... and see if you get a reading on the meter. If you do get a reading disconnect the tail light and see if it persists.
I suspect a wire in the wrong place or touching something inside the light housing, carefully pop the cover off the back and have a look but watch out, those housings get brittle sometimes. I'd be real suspicious of the marker light personally.
Not sure what to suggest on the dash lights, if you remove the wire from 58b on the switch and connect a test light instead does it adjust dim/bright normally?

Well Ive moved onto something else for the moment. I got some over riders from Matt Cuddy. These looked like ass before i cleaned them up. I also repainted the bumper the same color. I very pleased at how these turned out. Now I have some cool front bumper Over-riders. Next is the HELLA Fogs Cool

Ive been bussy on the girl. Got the dash lights figured out. It never was a switch problem I only had one light that worked. So I bought some more dash lights. But I tell you what those little black plastic fing things are hard to get. They are one of those parts that many of you have lying around not doing anything and are so cheap that most vendors didnt want to bother with sending me a $1 piece Rolling Eyes But I did get some and am now light rich with about a 25 count Cool The gas tak send has been replaced as well and now reads full. I have yet to drive it enough to see if it actualy fixed the wonky one from before Confused

While in the dash I put in the acc fans and a smiths tach. Took some head scratchin to get the tach to work but did figure it out in the end-thanks Tram. After that I wired up the fogs and used an old light switch from the 68 in place of the modern one. Works great and the dash is a little bussy with 2 more switches. The air controll symbol lights up now too with the addition of the missing bulb Rolling Eyes

I got a tabel and a childs cot-theh two hardest correct things to get. The tabel was a great find but the childs cot was a pain in the ass due to the vendor being a compleet tool. I got front seat covers that need to be put on as of yet. I think Ill wait till after I get some new front seat mats and do it all up. I did however make my own front floor may out of some stuff Ive been saving. Its GM mat out of a Chevy Cargo Van.

I took the paint code into a local ColorTone and had them make two rattle cans. $30 for easy area shooting. It matches pretty well so I did the cab foot steps and the slider threshhold. I went to Home Depot and bought some carpet transition strip as the one in there was a bit haggered. Looks good now. The steps had rot starting under the pads, so it was sanded down treated and painted. Looks tons better.

When I took the rear lights apart-they started to fall apart-typical. I ave the rear left parking light fuse keep blowing and this is whats started my investigation out back. I ended up getting some NOS Hech in Mexico Hellas that look great and should last awile. I did notice I need one back cover-anyone? If not Ill source one or two in the classys. While the lights were out I took the battery out and cleaned the tray. Its totaly solid and should last for years to come. Passenger side too.

I replaced the missing trim on the rear back corner of the cab with a early white one. I figured what the hell-should be fun to hear all you helpfull "im correct" nazi's tell me its the wrong one Rolling Eyes Laughing

And lastly a nos walking stick was sourced by my girlfriend Michelle Wink Now I have a place to put those National Park trail badges I plan to collect. Cool

Future plans will be a cooker cabinet and tank, new og carpet if I can get it, front curtains, fix the vaneer on the rest of the cabs and maybe some paint and rubber repair. I will hoever be relacing the slider window with a better unit from peacefulwarrior-thanks brother. Mine is pretty worn and the rivets have oblonged the fram from being open while driven.

After that I plan on pulling the motor detailing it and adressing an oil leak. It runs awsome now so its just to get it all clean.

Keep on keeping on!

Well the cabinets have been out ready to relaminate for awile now, but that 77 green westy I sent off over seas took my time Rolling Eyes

So I jumped back in and made the headliner look better. The front cab had paint over the glue that held the original plastic on, so did the bunk underside. The side pieces were a mixed bag of ripped plastic and exposed glued wood.

So I got some jelly paint strip. It took off everything in a matter of minutes. Then I sanded and stained in natural. I found that the quarter flip piece for the upper bunk was dark stained. Looked real rich with the natural put on it. So its the odd piece out Confused

Put in and rady for the cabinets-sound dead-new insulation!

I am on the hunt for a seat base for this late bay. I want a passenger side that is not broke-worn. My drivers side is bad, broke and pops alot. From what I can tell they are universal side to side? Correct me if wrong.

So if you have a passenger seat base please let me know! I need it.

More shots to come of my cabinet re-skin project Cool

To rebuild mine and bought 4 junkie ones to remove the springs to build one nice set using the good springs I could salvage. New horse hair cushions and then the new covers..

Are you going to make it to Maupin, Ore this year in June with your Westy?

We were able to get some camping time in for the first time in the 77 Westfalia. So the Misses, some gear and the two dogs got tossed in for a trip down the Oregon Coast.

We took a leisurely 2 dayer down to Coos Bay area. The best stop was at a RV park on the beach next to Bastendorf Beach County Park. The coast down through there is simply amazing and breathtaking. We got to see it first hand on a clear warm day. A great place to have a first camp.

Thats the funny thing about forums with high traffic. Things get lost. Ive put a neat mp3 type radio in. I just need time to buy the speakers amp and install it all propper.

I did get some VWoA parcel trays. But I need to restore the mesh.
