Hi Cali VW Owners. Had a quick question for you all. I didnt see a regional section so I am posting this here, so hope this is the right place.

My dad has a 73 Convertible Super Beetle that he has been saying he wants to restore for years and just hasn’t got around to it. I was looking to push him to start working on it this year. I will be heading to California next Friday for vacation and will be driving down. I hear there are a lot of good places in California to get VW parts from and I was hoping to check some out and pick up some floor pans and a few of the bigger items to save on shipping cost.

My question is....Where should I look? Any shop recommendations that have decent prices?

You're likely taking I-5 all the way down, but if you decide to head through the bay area, stop in at Viking Auto in Novato.

Wolfgang Intl. in Redding. Great guys, their prices are fair, and you can visit and shoot the breeze too if you like.

The Samba is your friend. At the top of this page on the menu bar go to the "Community" tab. Then click on the Buisness tab. On that page is Parts

As mentioned AirHead has a big selection. I use them a lot. Get their catalog before you go, it will make life a lot easier. The other advice about getting a copy of Hot VW's to check the adds is a must do. If he has any front suspension issues the place that specializes in Supers is TopLine. They are the ones that know the ins and outs and have the parts that fix the problems.
