Another homebuilt Sportster type copy I like, especially the shape of the front and rear fenders

I added a pic of my wheels on the last post I did on page 15. Humm not totaly sold on them. I need wider wheels in the back to fill out the fender. Maybe alittle later I might get some five wides that have been widen . Got to let the smoke clear first on the home front lol.

Well yesterday my new wheels came in, was nt expecting them . I got them from CIP1 and got the free shipping which was 7 to 10 days. I ordered this past Monday. The DHL driver even put them in my shop for me. I got the fronts off and got the studs put in last night but I could not get the back lugs to come loose. Im going to have to have the fronts mounted then put them on then drive it up to the tire shop to get the backs on.
I went up to the tire shop to see if they had the tires I wanted and they didn't , the owner jumped on the phone and got them coming be here today at 10 am. Only getting two to match the Coopers that was on the front. Im glad the tire store is close to my house its 45 degree this morning. I also got a front mat for it to , the one that goes over the hump.
Im going to be putting a thin type padding under the mat, getting it from a swap meet that is going on in a near by town, The padding is a mat also made for standing on ect. will post some pics soon when I get it all together.

I do like those wheels. But not a fan of there color. I've seen a topic about those wheels and one fella soda blasted the paint off so it was a light grey. Looked WAY better. They look similar to the old American torque thrust.

Oh and I'd run a bigger tire in the rear. Maybe a 225/70r15. That's just my opinion.

Yea I like the gray for the " American Torque Thrust " look, my tire guy said that these are the biggest for the size rim whch is only 5.5 . So will that tire you suggested help fill out that fender well ? I just dont know much about tires and their sizes. I need some more tire width.

I'm thinking of pulling the trigger again on different wheels. I'm thinking of getting a set of the Smittys Smoothies in silver. 15x7 for the rear and 15x6 for the front. Im just not satisfied . Hope I can recoop most of my money on the wheels that are on it , to take the sting out LOL of the Smittys. Wife said that it wasnt looking like a dune buggy now. Wider tires in the back and alittle rake will help with the look. Going to be working on the back bed soon in wood. Trying to get it ready for a VW show in Panama City FL in April.

Who has a factory built or factory kit Sportster which still has the original windshield knobs that can measure them. McMaster-Carr has some six lobe knobs which have the right shape but I'm not sure they're big enough

Hello BL3Manx,

I think most folks have tossed that away, I haven't seen a Empi Sportster with its front window laying forward.

Front windshield helps keep the bugs out. Very Happy

Tony

The knobs on my 065-272 sportster are stamped Jergens Cleve Ohio HK-6A. I bought Jergens 20907 knobs and they are a perfect match. They even have the same stamped part number on the back

This is a pic of my just finished bed. My neighbor lead the charge on this he is very talented in wood working. The wood is birch with a dark walnut stain. The floor is in two pieces. The fancy cover on the gas tank neck is a brand spanking new sock LOL, it looks pretty good. We put carpet down the sides with white welt at the top.
