Hello! Yes it’s the pan it came with. I did cut 8” out of the bed to make it more proportionate.

Slowly but surely it’ll be done. Narrowing the rear fenders cause they are just way to wide. I need to run a narrower beam next.

Some of the interesting things I found were what I think is a plastic tube behind the passengers seat in the box area for car registration. Is this a California requirement? Or; are there many states that require this? Also discovered the Sportster has air shocks in the rear. I am truly impressed with the workmanship involved like the inner wheel well in the box area. Lots of patience involved in this build. Also; am I the first to have an enclosed engine compartment? Just reviewed entire roll call and did see one other. Air flow seems to be adequate. Open underneath; and to the rear over tranny.
I find something new every day. 6 volt 1300 seems to run awsome, Have matched proper distributor with the 30 pic 1. That made the difference. This is a 58 pan with a 66 transmission. I have the 58 visors to reinstall which I had off to clean when I took these pics.

Several seasons back I had written on this forum about A sportster that had been in storage for 30 years. I thought I had first dibs on it and was losing sleep over it. Well; the owner passed away and had an auction. Turns out a family member came out of the wood work and claimed the buggy. Shortly after that; I went on the search and found the one that is pictured above. I thought I would show pics of the one that got me into this Sportster craze.

It would have been a project; but its what got me to investigate the Sportster; and the Stallion.
I am thrilled with the way it turned out.

Does anyone know if plans for the 4 seater version exist? 4 seaters have a vastly different rear so its not as simple as Ive read others say just shorten the chassis.

VW 7266,

That is a good question! Maybe create a new topic under the forum I am sure someone will have an answer.

The Samba does have a copy of the 2 seater Empi Sportster.

Good luck.

Making some progress on the sporty truck. Made some new suicide doors and some other tid bits. Overall I’m happy with the look.

Mannix:
Did I see this right? In the intro to the show, it looks like Mannix is driving a Sportster? Lower right block. Check it out, let me know if you agree,

Hello Empi Sportster owners and fans. I wish you all the best during these crazy times.

I probably will post more often since I will be home for next several weeks.

The VW community has always been positive and resourceful.

Be safe.
