Will hunting for VW accessories last weekend I came across this AAA badge. The badge even came with original box and instructions for installing. Thought it was kind of cool so I thought I would share it with you guys.

Yes they are cool (especially if you worked for AAA). The down fall of them is they are a lot more plentiful than you would think. Also most are still in the boxes. |

That AAA badge comes with the bracket style yours has and another version. The other one allows you to mount it on a horizontal or a vertical edge.
You should be able to read the copyright date on the mounting instructions to get a close date. I recall that most were made in 1953. The red background behind the letters is reflective. The chrome on those guys is really nice too.
If you look on ebay they are often in the wrong categories and you can get boxed ones for $20 or less. Most of the time they go for $45 to $75. There are lots of these floating around so they must of made tons of them.
Here is an NOS one I put on a 1971 bus to cover a dent in the hatch.

Thanks |

I think you got the award if you paid your annual membership.
About a year ago I asked AAA if they had a way of dating the badges and a listing of the badges through the years. The lady I spoke to gave me the number of the AAA "historian". I called him a couple times but never got a return call. She also mentioned that there was a book that employees received a few years back that chronicled the history of AAA and included all the "give-aways" they offered through the years. |
