My SB has an ac unit that squeels like crazy when i kick it on... anybody know where i can get some info, parts etc on this thing??. how many different types were made?? input would be great too.. is it even worth spending time and money on?.. thanx

Usually that is the belt. If its the bearing....you will generally see metal around the shaft seal by the pulley.
Worth it? depends on whther you really need air conditioning. Finding a new one just like it will be difficult.....so unless you want to change to a new style compressor (meaning new brackets, possibly pulleys, hose ends...and maybe even going to R-124a).....I'd say its worth looking into rebuilding. Someone on the 411/412 forum on the STF did a complete rebuild of one about 3-4 years ago. Ray |
