I have been researching replacing the battery area floor pan.
I have cut out the rust and cleaned up the edges. Had to cut from back bottom edge, along bottom of floor to end of seat rails across and around and back ( clean rectangle) - The replacement pan would have to be modified to fit right and the metal is thicker than the weld to metal left on the floor.
Can't find much info on putting the replacement battery pan in. But can you do this and do a good longlasting job?
Or go with full pan?
Have found that most recommend replacing full half as the best repair.
If so - Do you buy the expensive Wolfsburg panel?
Or the cheaper panels that seem to be widely available?
Recommendations?

Different strokes for different folks

Personally I'm a fan of quarter floor pans. A couple of reasons. You can get them in Danish made which I've had the best luck in terms of fit and quality overall. Also if your buying online, shipping is cheaper on quarter panels vs half panels. Either way to me the battery repair panel is a waste of time unless you just want to fill the hole. Most likely the metal around it is also thin and won't last long.

OE VEEDUB sells good quarter floor panshttp://www.oeveedub.com/vw/bug-floor-pans.html

I could have gotten away with patches on my '68 vert pans, but opted the pull the body and replace both pan halves and I'm glad I did. I chose to go for the Wolfsburg West pans and they were easy to work with and nice, heavy gauge steel. You get what you pay for.
