|
|
So I'm finally getting around to plumbing my decoupler setup on my 1.8t install. My decoupler did not have the actuator or bracket that was supposed to be included with my trans rebuild from Stephan. Since its taken me so long to get to this part of the conversion and honestly I never noticed the bracket and actuator even missing since decoupler was already installed on trans when I recieved it. Stephans shop now says it's been too long and they won't send me the parts. Kind of frustrated with the whole kit really. Have had many missing parts from the get go that had to be sent separately.
I went ahead and got the correct bracket and actuator from vancafe.
My main issue is that the drive pin on the decoupler is pushed in all the way inside the bore. Basically the decoupler is engaged and I am not sure how to get the pin out far enough so I can install the actuator arm and lock pin?? Any suggestions? _________________ 66 Westfalia

Is the differential installed? That will complicate the task. First step would be to remove the indicator switch. A strong magnet might work, otherwise you will need to make a tool that can fit down the bore of the pin with enough of a hook to grab one of the roll pin holes and pull.
If this is all new to you, sometime ago I came across a couple you tube videos on freeing up that pin. Might help to see those. _________________ ☮️ |

Thanks guys. Got it! Used an old pick tool. Took pliers and bent the end of the pick slightly. Was able to grab one of the pin holes on the push rod. With one hand turning the driveshaft and the other hand pulling on the hooked pin it slid out. Sucess! _________________ 66 Westfalia

What size clear tubing are you guys using to cover the actuator? _________________ 66 Westfalia
