The car is now in Alabama? Here is a brief topic here on the 58/59 Thread.

So on the bumpers to tell if it's original is to look for the 3 and 5 with the VW inbetween or that the 3 and 5 means is AM?
Where do you guys find this type of information? I would love to have a resources, it would be helpful in my job as well. |

I read into the first three pages of the thread and then skipped to page 6.
I noticed something that caught my eye as strange. The photos show a hump style gas tank with the reenforcing side wall pressings running in a horizontal direction. I was always under the belief that these tanks were only offered on early 1956 Beetle and Ghia models? Later, gas tanks switched to the typically seen vertical stampings. Also, if that car is totally original, that color gray doesn't appear to be correct. It would have been black or a much darker shade of gray. Any thoughts? _________________ Searching for original Glasurit paint chip colors and German Square weave carpet swatches for pre 1967, Beetle, Bus and Ghia. |

Just to keep it within a "coral" thread, i read somewhere that vw discontinued coral as it was difficult to keep the color consistant? One of my fenders which looks to be original has faded differently than the other side. Seen this on another coral as well? |
