After sanding down the black paint of my 57 oval it seems that the original color was Coral Red. While some may like the color I am so-so about it. Yet it is not a bad color. Should I keep it close to "original" according to possibly its birth certificate.
By the way the current upholstery is red. Would be open to redo it anyway.
Thoughts? |

IMO, I think you should go for an original VW color for the model year. But it is your car, and its just paint. |

order the BC if it states the color restore to the BC specs. If no color specified or no BC available go with color for the year or a year earlier. |

I am going thru the same dilemma -- my 57 rag top was Agave Green from the factory. I love it, but I love a nice restored black car even more, especially on beetles. That green is a lot more forgiving to paint -- meaning it shows a lot fewer blemishes, chips, and doesn't highlight mediocre body work. So I might go with it but we'll see. |
Let me help make up your mind...

Hahaha that is the dilemma. I always did like that Salmon like color. But there are other colors to choose from as well. Hmmm |

^^ That is a beauty. Yes it looks like a hard color to get right and that is what I am afraid of. If it comes out "wrong" then it has a big tendency to look bad. |
