As a Father of three young children who happen to be excellent travelers, I though one of these http://www.ebay.ca/itm/350461769903 might offer some relief at times during a journey. Maybe before bed?
I did see a vendor offering one, I thought it was too small. After receiving this thing....maybe not.
Anyway being stuck with this, I started to try to position it for mounting. It took up half the headliner and with the screen dropped down, was 3" from my head. I did not enjoy the thought of destroying a perfectly good headliner and having the monitor tickling my ear. So this is what I have come up with so far. I plan on mounting the DVD in the flip seat behind the driver, I'm losing the controls and lights. Only the remote will be used. I'm only slightly into this project, so any direction/comments are greatly appreciated.
So far...
The good: Nice big 20" screen for the visually impaired(like me).
No destroying the headliner.
Color matches well
The bad: Obstructs vision in rear view mirror... to a degree.
Pop top latch harder to get at too close.

This is my first vanagon...I've seen a couple others around here, I thought the seats were all the same?

I'm not aware of any that have seats as yours, those look to have been redone.

They appear stock, no sign of being re-done. But again, I'm no expert.
