It sucks but your right, find a new job. It becomes his word against the boss. _________________ Fatchicks: Daily drivers, donor cars, collectibles. What can't they do? |

agreed - time to move on; that is a time-bomb waiting to happen.... the first time the boss gets his tit caught in that till, it will all fall on your friend, who will lose his job and possibly face criminal charges if the boss can use it to clear his own name... _________________ póg mo thóin

Document for sure. It may be his word against his boss, but if he has a series of well taken notes and his boss don't... |

By law he does not have to pay it back and the only way he can be fired for it is if he's hade multiple documented warnings of "his" drawer being short, if it's shared the boss can't do shit legally. _________________ It's not about the window, it's about the people.

Why run? I'd reverse the table! Drop the dime on the boss first! He would'nt hesatate to fire him to save his theiveing ass right? He has a higher paying job than your friend. Who knows maybe your friend may get his job. If that happens your friend gets that evil little innermost sence of revenge we all crave from time to time for the stress the boss put him through anyway.
you know you do. |

his boss is the owner. and the box has been short in the past and warnings have been written, but he could never figure out why the box was short at times...untill now. it is usually always after a mislogged invoice was found and paid. _________________ once you realize im not impressed we will get along just fine |

Is it possable that the boss does not know he made an error ? Either way I would copy the invoices and the deductions from my pay and show the boss/owner and ask for my money back. If the friend is fired for asking for his money back the friend should not be working there anyways. Report it to your states Labor dept. It's the DLSE. in cal. Either way I would not let it go to keep a job. There are some good online Labor forums that answer questions based on your state for both employee and employer. |
