Anyone got data on putting foam on aluminum cooler to seal inside dog house ? I know originally there was an approx 1" wide strip to seal it within the shroud. Was gonna buy a cheapo piece at a foam store but employee says it won't last and is suggesting this gray colored with sticky back. Tips, suggestions, specs/dimensions much appreciated. I would buy the gray foam but have to see if it will be thick enough as it may only be 1/4" wide. Thanks, Bill.

I bought a small roll of this 1" wide gray foam strip from the local Lowes hardware store. IIRC it was marketed for use with garage doors. I forgot the exact length, but had a bunch left over from another home project. I have not removed the fan shroud since to see how it is keeping up though.

Does anyone have temp difference measurements of foam vs. no foam? I have no foam on mine, but I did use metal foil HVAC tape to seal all the external gaps between the doghouse tin pieces.

Old carpet padding and rubber cement works quite well...the kind of carpet padding composed of several different colors of foam and the netting.

Without the foam the space between the housing and the cooler is big enough that most of the air would go around the cooler rather than thru it I bet.....

Get a roll of low density ¼" thick, ½" wide foam tape with adhesive on one side. You can double it up if it's not thick enough.
You don't have to cover the whole thing, just enough to block flow around the cooler.

Here's an old (NOS) dealer doghouse oil cooler that I dug out of my collection a couple years ago...just the small foam strip, as mentioned earlier:

I used the weatherstrip too. Install the shroud over the cooler first. That way you can see the gaps that you need to patch.
