Also, if anyone is interested there is a VW drive/convoy going from Clearwater (Gulf to Bay, christmas store, near Original Hooters) to Tampa (Bus Taco stand, best tacos in the area as I was told) this Saturday at 5:30pm. |

It's on Hillsborough Avenue just off I-275. Best Mexican food in town.
The main beef that I have with riding my old VW's in Florida at this time of year is the friggin heat. I have an "office job", and if I drive the bug, I get to work like I have just showered in my work clothes. Also, as I have a commute that goes from Tampa to Clearwater, I have to deal with the crazy's on I-275 or the causeway. Then a decent rain shower makes driving interesting too. Plus the crazy's do odd things in the rain.
Anyway, only another month or so and it's classic VW's for the next 6-months!!!! - can't wait.
IMO, the problem with the Tampa VW scene is that we need a cool place to hang out. The oval event at Ricks was perfect. Maybe a bi-weekly/ monthly meeting at Ricks on the River? |

Gondi, what area of Tampa are you in? I'd love to brainstorm a regular meet somewhere in the area.
I agree with you about the weather. Between the heat and rain, I'm careful when I choose to drive my bug. Until the weather cools, we can either do weekend meets, or meets late enough to allow going home and coming back out in a vw. _________________ "In any racing engine, the nearer you are to it disintegrating, the better it's performance will be"

I am in the exotic part of town called Old Seminole Heights.
Buggy - it only takes a couple of guys to start a VW meet. It doesn't have to be a massive organized PITA, just some guys shooting it about their cars. The first mistake would be trying to accomodate everyone's separate schedules. |

Yeah, I hear you about trying to accomodate everyone. Some locals have tried to get things going on Tuesday's or other weekdays, but it's just too hard to do often. It seems that Saturday nights are the best for most, but I'm somewhat flexible.
I didn't go to Ovalrated, but I've heard Ricks is a sweet place. Since that's local to you, swing in and see what they say about meeting there?
Maybe we could start once a month and go from there. _________________ "In any racing engine, the nearer you are to it disintegrating, the better it's performance will be"

It's here:
http://tampatacobus.com/
I live about 5 minutes away from the place. Oddly enough, it took me 3 years to build up the balls to eat there. One day, a friend was mentioning how good it was. Anyway, a few years and a lot of burritos later, I am still eating there. More importantly, I am still here. |

Actually - isn't that the same day as the Classic Camber gig at the Hurricane restaurant? I think that we're spending the weekend at the beach. Why O'why on the double booked gigs???? |
