That's interesting. Do you have any pictures of it installed? Do you have custom headers? _________________ '81 Westfalia Subaru EJ22

I've had a Porsche 911 muffler (77-78 vintage) for about 14 years. It looks and performs the same as the day I put it in. Nice growl & tone. Got a Smallcar ceramic coated header at the same time to fit the 911 muffler with a Vw cat. The header has held up well with no cracks and just losing some coating under the trans. What I thought was an intake howl was actually a leak between the cat and the muffler. Sealed it by using Permatex Copper with the gasket. Now the intake is quite acceptable even with an open cylindrical K&N filter fitted into the D-pillar box & just blocked off from the engine using abs.
At the time the EBay 911 muffler with shipping cost me about the same as a stock VW 2.1 muffler. They are more expensive now if you can find one. |

The hush 2 muffler works great . But it needs some pipe on the down side of the muffler( outside of the engine bay) and a down turn is a pluss

my 911 muffler sits up much higher than that...but I built a custom mount for it and fabbed the header to muffler "J" pipe. I also notched the engine bar to get it as high as possible.
I can't find my most recent pic's of it...I'll keep looking. or take some new ones when I get to it. _________________ '89 Westy - EJ25/22 Frank 4.44 5mt

Not sure if you can get them on the other side of the pond. Yesterday I got silencer from J P Group Denmark fitted and it is super quiet. I barely hear the car when idling.

I was not interested in any fabrication at the time and the height has been OK.Besides, I like showing everybody my big banana. |

I'm looking for a new muffler for my '91 Vanagon with an ej25 and KEP header with cat. Many of the links in this thread no longer work, so I thought I'd bring it back to the top and see if anyone has any current suggestions.
Thanks in advance. _________________ '67 Micro Bus

The KEP header is a maxed out unequal length header, so you are going to have the Subaru rumble. Walker QuietFlow 6 inch round? |

I used a walker quietflow on my EJ2.5 swap with the kep header and cat, I just started driving it but I like it nice and subdued, not loud like the rice racer boys around town.
And I used a late 90's V6 ranger airbox and tube for the intake so it's not noisy either. plus it has connections for the evap lines, and a maf sensor slot built in the box, if you need one

Solo Stealth Muffler Series:
https://shop-solo-performance.com/13-stealth-muffler-series
This is the muffler that RMW now includes with their conversion kit. They come in many configurations on the Solo site. I recently replaced my old magnaflow straight through muffler with one of these and am very happy with the reduced noise and no noticeable reduction in performance. _________________ 1986 Syncro Sunroof EJ22

Thanks for the input. Which Stealth did you use? There are quite a few on the link you included. _________________ '67 Micro Bus
