I'll be going to this show. It's going to be one of a kind for sure. I'm going just to take the VW on a ferry and island with the kids. A bunch of guys are coming from Jersey as well. Should be a great time. _________________ Central Jersey Volkswagen Society - President

Got my reservation weeks ago.
Can't wait to ride the ferry to Governor's Island. _________________ Founder and Chairman Emeritus, ECMSAS

The only problem with the show is getting off the ferry at 6:00pm in downtown NYC on a Sunday. It should be an interesting drive home. _________________ Glenn

Does anyone know if there will be any local news coverage off the show? _________________ Central Jersey Volkswagen Society - President |

Probably all the coverage will be of the Ground Zero Mosque protest happening at noon that day.
I'd stay away from Broadway on the way down there if you are after 8am or so. _________________ Founder and Chairman Emeritus, ECMSAS

Did it stop raining at all?
Sorry I couldn't make it, the weather wasn't why I couldn't come.

We had a great time at the Traffic Jam. It was so cool to go into NYC and take the ferry over to Governors Island. We got to check out some crazy outdoor sculptors and tour the old Naval grounds. The kids had a great time on the bicycle/car we rented. They also got tattoos painted and got to run in the rain.
The show was the perfect spot with front row parking to one of the greatest views in the city. It had a great tree-lined picnic field, good eats, music and nice shelters to rest and eat in.
We can't thank Travis, and and all her great friends for putting on this show and just having the idea of doing it to begin with. We hope it sticks around for a long time. It was a lot of hard work and we appreciate it. It was such a privilege to drive our Thing on Governors Island, thank you.
So many people took pictures and I hope some people will post them up
Waiting for our ferry
Here we go

Cruising on the island. I was hoping to be the first Thing on the island "in my mind", but Bill from Delaware beat me to it.

What an awesome show, at no point during the day it felt like we were at a car show, we went on a bike ride for a bout an hour an explore the whole island.
Kudos to Travis, Laura and the staff who put this well organized event, those big personalized window signs with the vehicle number on made it very easy for the spectators to vote for their favorite cars.

Even Cranky was very pleasant to me on the way back out.

What a great show! Very cool location, every picture of a car had the Statue of Liberty in it. Having to take a ferry over added to the fun. Thanks to Travis and Laura and crew for getting this together, and hope that this will be the first of many. |
