Yes, There was a below zero Utah morning in the '56 I would have liked one of those.

Looks like an ambulance might be really well suited to camping. Cool project - I always like the unusual models. Good luck with it, and post more pics! |
There's an ambulance from New Hampshire which shows up at Litchfield or Terryville shows and the camping in it is really nice.
He left the stretcher at home and used an inflatable mattress on the platform, IIRC. _________________ Founder and Chairman Emeritus, ECMSAS

This had crossed my mind, but then I thought, surely one wouldn't chance an oil leak out the sump when one could heat the oil through the dipstick hole.
But alas... _________________ Copyright CJ Industries, Inc.

Cool new project. Are you going to keep the flashers on the front? |

"I was pondering that. It's the first ambulance I have seen with those big lights up front. I was told that all emergency vehichles in Saskatchewan are required to have flashing lights up front. They could be cool once it's restored on there or it may look better without them. What would the masses do?"
i would weld up those hacked in front lights in a heartbeat. The lights are nothing special (i.e. not hella or anything) and appear to be cludged in as a response to some sort of Sask. provincial requirements. Interesting to note that the other CDN ambulance (albeit from another province- Ontario) doesn't have those front flashing lights hacked in on the front..
Putting aside CDN healthcare jokes and "free delivery" - the lettering that appears on the side of the bus seems to have been added after being retired as an ambulance. The bus found a new role as meat delivery??[/quote] |

Keep those lights.
Seriously, that's part of it's appeal.
So it was a provincial requirement.....so keep it the way it was made.
If you came across a fire panel with a non factory window specifically hacked in one side for a fire dept purpose wouldn't you leave it there?
I say get a siren and hook up those lights.
It won't win a beauty contest but you bought it to look cool, right? _________________ Cheers & God Bless

Nobody asked my opinion but I don't like the lights either. I'd look at finding some alternative light that looked better. |

I doubt they were on the bus when it was delivered. but I like them. I'd check to see how they are wired, like some alternating flasher? _________________ April 3rd 62 standard mgr/pw
