Looks good Mitch.
Glad you finally got it. You know what I have never seen at a car show is a SLAMMED amber lamps.
Call me up and we can make it lower than the old mango.

What a kick ass bus!!! We should display your ambo, my cop truck, and Jim Bass' Fire truck single cab together at the BOR what a kick! I think I have a decent recessed handle door passenger door I would part with, I'll look at the shop later today. I think I have a perfect light grey fat dogleg, upper half only I'll look. Congrats!!! |

No idea. Must be an earlier ambulance feature.

No idea. Looking at the mounts, is it possible that it was for an axe - for access to patients in damaged cars, etc.?

This looks like it would have been for the roll down shade to seperate the front from the back can you imagine driving this thing and looking back to see some nasty ass stuff hmmmm

this.
I know you have a '68 tranny sitting around somewhere. Better yet, early short axle with narrowed torsion. You know you want a "proper" bus in the stable (aren't you glad I couldn't buy that double door off you now??? )
Looking good Mitch, looking good. Hell, it's been a week and you just about have the front end ready for rough-in fill? Great progress.
Despite favoring the utility and drivability of patina cars, I'd vote for a full respray in Ivory. I think it deserves a nice life in retirement. Hell, it just reflects the essence of an ambulance, getting dropped off at the make-better place |

I was thinking axe or shovel. Maybe oxygen or something along those lines? |

Get your spindles flipped by Aaron (Widefive.net) or even better have him make you a set of 63 only flipped spindles so you can run later (cheaper) brakes. I think he even has a set already done and ready to bolt up.
Then Get some stepped springplates from Womack suspensions and toss that 68 tranny in it.
You will then need to either run thing drums, machined down early bus drums or 4 to wide 5 adapters depending on the rims you want to run. |
