for me ... not so easy; for you with that new paint you're van is sporting ... try the middle of a field .. it'll just look like there's a big shrub in the middle of it! Very Happy

I found a good spot but it's about 25 minutes south of Hood River on hwy 35. There are multiple primitive sites on the west side of the highway near the Dog River Trail trailhead.

Right about here: http://maps.google.com/maps?client=safari&rls=...amp;tab=wl

There were other van campers in the area but far enough away. You're right next to the river and you can see Mt Hood.

VanWilder,

Wowzer, that website:

http://www.eugenecarsey.com/camp/default.htm

is an AMAZING directory of free campsites! What a treasure!

Thanks for sharing this link.

South on Hwy 35 about 15 miles, left on Pinemont Dr between Odell and Parkdale. You get into USFS pretty quick, just pick a nice spot. Cool

I've camped the Gorge area about a half a dozen times...every time it has been so windy and loud.

We went last Saturday and of course it was loud and windy...I was hoping that maybe it would be different..but nope.

I suggest going inland at least 5 miles or so to get away from what I've mentioned...

Good luck!
