On the side of a Westy, where you fill the water and plug into electric. My gasket is gone and it is leaking water inside my van. What is that called?
I want to replace and not put silicone or something on it. But I just can't find a description of one to see what it is called. |

I believe it is still recommended (and I recommend) not only replacing the gaskets, but using silicone or some other sealant as well. Solve the problem - for good. If you don't do this, you will be revisiting the problem in the near future. _________________ 1982 Westy, 2.0L AC CA emissions |

people report horrible rust problems... _________________ 1986 2.1L Westy 2wd Auto Trans. |

You should also carefully inspect the outlets themselves, for cracks, holes...etc., old plastic gets brittle and new gaskets wont really help if the outlets themselves are letting water in.
And while the outlets are off you should try to pull all the fiberglass insulation that you can out since it can hold quite a lot of moisture in it (ideally the insulation would be removed from the inside while the cabinets are out) rusting the panel from the inside out. _________________ 89 Bluestar-2.5 Subaru Powered-RIP
