VDO is the standard that most ACVW folks use, gets the job done and plenty of info on the boards on how to install and use them.

Thanks guys,

Is it possible to buy a whole kit that fits a Type4 engine?

I mean - not only the watches but also the feelers aso?

BTW, I'm running the stock oilcooler.

Thanks,
Henrik

Greetings Henrik,

You might want to check out this write-up:

http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=423765

Samwise does an excellent job describing where to buy all the necessary pieces and parts...all available over the internet.

I think this will achieve the results you are after. It will help you monitor all the vitals, as well as give you the option to monitor some other things, like voltage etc. The nice part is how accurate your guages will be; far more accurate than the VDO.
Read this for more info on VDO guages: http://www.ratwell.com/technical/VDOGauges.html

While the VDO (analog) are far more compatible aesthetically, they are known to be less accurate. Many people here use them simply as a means of monitoring patterns. Hope this proves useful. Let us know what you decide to do and whatever your results are. Cool

If you want trending patterns go with the VDO, otherwise Dakota digital is the way to go, it compensates for the ambient temp, and responds quickly, VDO doesn't.

EDIT: sorry, I was referring to the CHT gauge, yeah VDO works for the others.

Need a really good mechanic for your VW bus? Consider making an appointment with Colin (Amskeptic) next time he passes thru your area.
