Well when it hit Halifax, NS, it was down graded to a Tropical Storm (60-75 mph winds). Took my Westy for a drive down to the ocean to watch the waves. The wind did not knock her over even when hit with a 60 mph side gust. The roof rack held the Yakima cargo box and Solar Panel on just fine.

Hey Westnova
We got very lucky down here in Shelburne just a little wind, no worse than a noreaster with a bit of rain.
Glad to see you and your Westy didn't suffer any damage.
How are they making out with the power outages?

I mentioned on another post...we had 21 calls in 24 hrs at my station. Two car accidents, 2 house fires and the rest alarms and trees arcing on wires. It was the busiest day I have had in 19 plus years.

The Westy was parked behind the station safely away from trees. We weren't so lucky at my house during Juan so I wanted the van-o-rama in a good spot. Parts for Golf's are easy to get....hehehe.

We had power back on in Fall River before 11 P.M. Saturday. Not sure about the rest.

It's always sunny in Shelburne...isn't it? Laughing

Brian.

We to had a run in with Earl. A bunch of us went to Mt Dessert Isand
for the weekend.
Earl showed up late Friday night while we were having dinner around
the fire. Someone says what's that noise? Sounds like a Train! It's
RAIN,RUN!! Talk about holy downpours. Everything got soaked, water
in the butter bowls for the steamers, fire was extinguished, every chair
was completely soaked.
It didn't last long, we all came back out of hiding to finish eating and
got the fire going again. It rained off and on during the night and really
opened up on us Sat. by midday the rain and Earl were gone and the
Sun came out. It turned out to be a nice weekend after all.

Happy to report that my GW Wasser Stopper did what it's suppose to and
kept my westy nice and dry. I didn't dare to put up my BD awning as
the forecasts were for high winds and I didn't want to see that sail away.

Westynova,

You wrote "Took my Westy for a drive down to the ocean to watch the waves...The wind did not knock her over even when hit with a 60 mph side gust...Hard to see the 10 foot waves in behind the Break Water."

Call me a skeptic, but I don't count driving to the ocean during a Hurricane or Tropical Storm to watch the waves as qualification for "My Westy Survived Hurricane Earl." Razz

Nice pics though.

I think it was said tongue in cheek. Ever since Juan maritimers feel great relief at getting off easy. None the less they lost trees and power and there is some confusion if it was a Tropical Storm or a low Hurricane when it touched land. I think that there was humor that you might not have picked up on. None the less that's closer than I'd like it.

Okay, who does the first Westy/Cow/Cyclone montage?

We have tornadoes, here. The traditional response if you can't get to serious safety is to sing, 'We're Off to See the Wizard!' That, and praying a lot.

Shocked

Best!

He also said in his post that it had been down graded to a tropical storm. Humour.
