Great, great picture, ticks everything that's important: van, canoe, lake, mountains - I'm so looking forward to summer trips like this...

Took advantage of a warm salt free (but windy!) January day, last Sunday, to exercise the mechanical systems of the otherwise hibernating van.
To be truthful, I didn’t feel like going for a ride, I had things to do, foot pain and general dismal outlook, but it turned out to be what I needed.
I know theoretically the flat 4 is smoother than an in-line 4, but you can’t tell that from the driver’s seat of this van. Andrew made this a smooth-running 1.8T van, despite screwing up the engine rotation and then having to fit a Passat trans in it to save face. 😅.
Location is state boat ramp off route 88 in Westport, MA.
Current was flowing and winter ducks were enjoying it all. I should have taken some duck pictures, but perhaps they have their own Instagram accounts.
If anyone wants to join me for kayaking this summer (or winter, as I paddle all year) in our salt rivers, pm me.

Wolf Lake, Florida.
Interesting day there. A local just pulled a 22" Largemouth out of the lake and a very good looking woman flashed me! Lol!
5 min. later it rained... _________________ This free advice is worth exactly what you paid for it.

OK...it's been a while, I'll take another turn.
State forest CG near (but not quite in) Lake Itasca State Park (MN)...
Lake Itasca is considered the "primary source" at the headwaters of the Mississippi River...beautiful neighborhood!

On the Deschutes River just north of Maupin. Blue Hole Campground only has one group site. Usually its taken, but just happened to be available when we were there this March. This was the nice day. Second day was some rain and high winds. Fishing was slow, but great to get out.

Actually I'm trying to decide which was the highlight of the day...being flashed or seeing the Largemouth Bass! _________________ This free advice is worth exactly what you paid for it.

I got a Mass State park’s pass so I can drop in anytime. We live about 5.5 miles from this place, yet in the last 20 years, I’ve only arrived by kayak or walking in when it’s closed.
Grandma suggested that grandpa (me) go to the beach with daughter/ new grand daughter. The other night she suggested similar to sit by an estuary while I fished.
The fish weren’t biting that evening, but the bugs were.
The versatility of the Vanagon vs. a larger dedicated camper.
