I'd just like to say that I think this project looks great, and I don't get what people's hangup is about it.
The top was a bit wonky on the driver's side, but it looks like you got that figured out. I think a 4" stretch is just the right amount, and the beefy back tires give it a great aggressive, utilitarian stance. Would keep the current color as well, if possible.
It might not be the California look, but if I thought I had the technical skill to pull it off I'd do exactly this to mine.
Look forward to seeing more progress on this. |

Sorry, it's a slow process. I'm picky, and have several projects on my hands. I but trig welded the patches closest to the drip rail. They are but welded, I still have to stretch the weld seam with hammer and dolly. I bought wolfsburgwest floor panels and deluxe heat channels. The floors slipped right in. Let me find a pic. I size the front strip and put some compound curve in it with my englishwheel that I built

I'm thinking the tires are the least of that poor car's worries. _________________ '63 Bus (camper of unknown origin)

Well ya see my mom did that too. At the time i had to many cars. I needed reason to get rid of the blue bug, so i cut the top for use on the gun metal one. Ya see im done with college this spring and cant have to much of this stuff. Can sell it so while not chop it. Chopped is unique, why do you thin ratrod get more attention that grade A restorations, there different.
Well I deceived you though, I did such a nice job painting hey and taking the picture that you didn;t realize the mismatched doors, hood, and floor rot.
I would rish a nice bug! _________________ Have brand new, freshly painted, dent free blue fenders, brand new elephant turn signals and front turnsignals. |

From the front the drivers side of the roof looks sagged, and from the side i sure hope thats not how you're going to weld it together. The front half of the roof doesnt match the same slope as the rear half. |

Im with the guys above, the chop looks good, but the whole thing kinda looks funny, because everyone is uded to chopped tops, with lowered suspensions. the chopped looks give you a wider, flatter apperence. So having it so high, kinda interferes with the illusion of lowered, the chopped roof is creating. I like it tho. finish the roof, thro a rack on top, and some surf boards, and go to the beach _________________ 1974 Super Beetle: Custom resto in progress
