Regardless of the prices, I would go just for the spectacle. _________________ “If you care for a thing long enough, it takes on a life of its own, doesn't it? Mending old things, preserving them, looking after them – on some level there's no rational grounds for it.”

I have been to the event a couple of times in the last 7 years. It is something to check out at least once. Wonderful vehicles of stuff you generally do not see. Mr. Cusser you should attend some time. _________________ Volkswagen: We tune what we drive.
Numbers Matching VW's are getting harder to find. Source out the most Stock vehicle and keep that way. You will be glad you did.

They never showed images of the underside. You would think they would use the correct skylight seals too, you just can't have a splice in those rubbers. I have a 64, they picked the correct year b/c there were so many changes in 64, depends on the month of 64. I have ice picks and diff Golde handle on sunroof. Belly Pans?
Crazy prices on Buses is all I can say, if I was spending that money, I would want it all correct-and a walk through. They MUST be serving lots O' Tequila at the auctions, and maybe some Meth b/c they sure aren't serving MATH, but I know how much $$ goes into a complete repaint, and it isn't cheap. _________________ kaiser kills kids.com |

I will also say it is a fun visit... yes there is stuff that sells super high especially for what it is. But what you see on TV is not really what it is like at the event. There are deals to be bought and lots of stuff you can not build for the price it sells for.
Many people there are super friendly ( I was sitting in Joe Staluppi seats and he was fine with it). Lots of fun “back and forths” between the auctioneer and bidder assistants. Go to the memorabilia auction, there is less pressure and it shows.
We will miss them not coming up here anymore ( Northeast auction) |

How could someone who spent all that time and/or money restoring a '65 Bus not know the name Vanagon didn't exist before 1979. |

This looks like Brazilian Bus to me so never a '65 but I agree anyway.
If you built that Bus you should know the terminology.
Maybe he bought it and is reselling it now _________________ How to Post Photos

No one talking about the vegas auction?
I heard there were quite a few of the Brazilian buses there. Do you think that with the flood of those onto the market, the prices will come down on the real buses? _________________ John

8 of the 9 Buses that sold are identified in the description as "RE-CREATION". Only 1 of the 8 said it was made by the boys from Brazil. They sold from $41,800 to $75,900. The one real Bus , a 21-window 1960 Microbus, sold for $99,000. |
