|
|
Question #1: do you take a pillow with you when going camping/on road trips? i personally find them to be a waste of space, they get covered with dog hair, get dirty easily, etc. i have no problem using a rolled up jacket or small blanket instead.
Question #2: what incense do you burn while camping? i've been using Nag Champa for the longest time, but i feel like there are better options than the "stereotypical" "hippie incense". also, where do you buy the incense you recommend?
any thoughts, comments, and positive discussion is greatly appreciated, as i have a few upcoming trips planned, and i'd like to change things up a little.
thanks. _________________ thebucket: I invested in hoodride, now DBD won't return my call?

Pillow = Yes, squished down by the pop-top. Or sometimes just a pillow case stuffed with my fleece, etc.
Incense = Some type of Japanese sandalwood AT HOME. While camping I prefer the natural scent provided by the great outdoors. _________________ 1977 Westy 2.0L FI

Ditto, that! The whole point of camping for me is to get out to where there are no artificial influences. Aside from transport via bus, of course. _________________ John

We have a couple of cheapo little pillows from Walmart that live in the bus and some spare covers.
No incense here, a bar of Irish spring makes the bus smell like a spring day in Ireland and it's handy in the tub too _________________ Rust NEVER sleeps and stock never goes out of style.

1. I bring pillows as I find that I don't fill the bus up that much to not bring them. And they squish down into small spaces.
2. I am with others here, I don't use incense on camping trips. Just take in the outdoors. The incense I do buy, I get from the local head shop. _________________ 71 Westy Hardtop, 1915

I also have a couple of cheap Walmart pillows stowed in the linen cabinet, and as for incense I don't burn any in the bus while camping. But I do burn Nag Champa at home.
In order to get Stank foot you need to wear your damn socks straight on for a few days until you grow that nice bacteria that eats the bottom of your feet. That should satisfy your Stank foot needs! _________________ '71 Westfalia |

We just use our regular bedroom pillows - I've read that you sleep better with familiar pillows. Just change/wash the pillowcases when you get home. I have a leash, like a lanyard with clips on both ends, in case I drop my pillow when I sleep upstairs.
No incense, can't really smell it outdoors anyway, and usually outdoors/greenery/woodsmoke smells better than any incense. I do cut up a stalk of ginger from the yard now and then and throw it in the bus, it's a nice fresh scent and not overbearing. _________________ 1978 Westfalia stock 2.0 FI

I feel like I'm being Punked
To answer the questions...
1. Pillows! No animals (Yet) so no worries about shedding and if I travel with someone... well it's a tin top so OUTSIDE WITH YA! MY BED!
2. No incense. Petrulli if I was going too though. I prefer the smell of nature and that distinct VW smell. As one of my friends described it "It smells like sex and hippy in here... I LOVE IT!!" _________________ '73 Transporter 1.7L Dual Carb

1. Yes, we bring home pillows and change the case when done camping.
2. No incense. Odor enough is provided by the off-gassing caused as an unfortunate byproduct of whatever delicious meal I had for dinner. And the beer. _________________ -------

if i am "guy" camping alone or with friends i just bring a sleeping bag.
if i am family camping there are pillows involved.
you might want to looking into some of the inflatable pillows for backpacking if you want to save space & keep them out of the dog hair.
my favorite incense is a juniper or mesquite campfire _________________ 88 Van WBX, A/T - 13 JSW TDI 6M/T - 2012 Touareg TDI Sport |
