Great job on the Bus. Here's a nice solid DB example. _________________ 1959 Model M1: 118

That bus was what made me second guess doing it in two tone. I still have some time to decide.
In the meanwhile.... bodywork, bodywork and more bodywork.
every time I guide coat I find another spot that needs work that I didn't know needed work.
Finally got the rear roof straight
Slight OCD by doing the cargo door threshold with filler.

I finished the filler work and scuffed the whole bus in preparation for another coat of epoxy.
I was standing on the bumper bracket while sanding and it broke. It apparently had broken in the past and glued/epoxied back together. It held up surprisingly well.
after a little zip and zap
I've been going over every inch of the bus exterior trying to fix and clean up minor imperfections. The plan is to hit it with another coat of epoxy, lay some feather fill, block it out, epoxy sealer then paint. _________________ 1987 Syncro Westfalia powered by Subaru

Looking good. It’s always good to get that first uniform colour on a vehicle. Keep up the great work and keep the updates coming please 😊😊
Cheers. Dave |

I hate setting deadlines but there is a chance it could make it to transporter fest in October. _________________ 1987 Syncro Westfalia powered by Subaru

No pressure. I’ll be there though, and would love to see it! Last time I saw it, it was a 15 window |

I think this is the last metal that needed to be welded on the bus body. Its the metal piece between the air vent and sunroof. I think its purpose is to deflect the air downward? ..or maybe just bind the sunroof opening to the roof support.
I started cleaning up the valance. It look to have come from a Pearl White bus.... maybe thats an omen to go with the two tone
This thing was nasty. Someone had done a half decent job of cutting out a second cutaway for a bug muffler. I opted to keep it there and cleaned it up in case I want to upgrade the exhaust at a later time. _________________ 1987 Syncro Westfalia powered by Subaru

Oh yes!!! That uniformity of a single colour all over is always good for the soul and a milestone in your project. It looks awesome!

Thanks Dave!
I did the fine filler work yesterday. Going to try to spray the polyester primer today.

I'm going to just post pictures of the bus in different colors
I used evercoat feather fill g2. It's pretty nice stuff but a pain in the butt to shoot. It started setting up while in the gun before I made it through the first coat. Had to clean the gun out quickly before continuing. After that I worked fast. _________________ 1987 Syncro Westfalia powered by Subaru

One of my favorite threads currently running. Bus is looking like it's close to final sealer and paint.
Nice work....you're almost there! |
