All that work, and no back seat.... Yes, that is a shame. The rest seems mostly good, and I agree on the 5th wheel idea, wildly! Thought I saw a trailer built from a Vanagon as a 5th wheel somewhere! |
Just one of those provided by your friend Google.
|
The Scamp 5th wheel would be much lighter and more functional!
While a trailer made from another Vanagon looks kinda cool, all that steel would weigh too much. _________________ Currently:

I think then that would be perfect for the Audi 2.5TDI 'Quattro/ Syncro' mod..... _________________ 1990 Feldjäger Syncro AAZ

I think you may have misunderstood me.
Isn't the 'Quattro Syncro' the complete drive train?
Transmission included?
That was my impression.
And even if I'm wrong, it works just fine in my mind..... _________________ 1990 Feldjäger Syncro AAZ

...I'm also imagining air bag suspension for the trailer, with some pneumatic rams in the front, so you could level it at the campsite.
I guess if it's going that route, It should also have a pair of pop-tops grafted on, with a corresponding wind break on the truck.... _________________ 1990 Feldjäger Syncro AAZ

The Audi 2.5 TDI drivetrains I've seen in the T3 have been mid engine 2WD with a Tiptronic transaxle. So far as I know, the only fully functioning Quattro drivetrains have been rear engine reverse rotating 1.8t engines. _________________ Casey--

Ok, how about the Subi set up. We already know we can flip the tranny, the Aussie guys have given us a flipped R&P for that.
Subi swaps are fairly common, and I think someone has fit a Diesel already.
We know this is possible. _________________ 1990 Feldjäger Syncro AAZ

An LS1 V8 with a Toronado transmission like the Breadbox Build would pull that trailer nicely I think. While we're dreaming. _________________ Joe T.

Convert the front to a Syncro and add an auto trans to the rear and you have a six wheel drive. That could be fun.
Sad to see that three vans were destroyed in the building of that thing. _________________ Patrick Brown

I take comfort in thinking these vans were no longer serviceable, and therefore snatched from the jaws of some crusher.
I agree, anyone who chopped up perfectly good vans to build this should be dragged out into the streets and viciously beat to death with a wet noodle.... _________________ 1990 Feldjäger Syncro AAZ

And maybe standing headroom?
Good lord.. Who would want to drag around a 5th wheel if you can't even stand in it?
Unless its a toy hauler for midget racers, unicorn ponies, or some such.

I'd imagine it would be dangerous hauling unicorn ponies..
you'd have to slip a pool noodle over the horn at the least.. _________________

You just gave me an idea. Instead of shortening or lengthening, how about extending upward?

This was in the classified around 3 years ago. The Vanagon was painted flat black. It was a cool idea but looked like crap in real life |

Pool noodles are like this decade's silver duct tape.
I have one currently employed to prevent my buggy window from slamming against the roll bar.
And its brightly colored.. so it looks COOL, too. _________________ -89 GL Westy, SVX.. finally.

Another kick-ass mural van from Germany. Saw on Busman's Facebook page that he picked up this Syncro for a client. This one has an Audi V6 in it.

Why is this a wall of shame candidate? It’s a great looking van. _________________ 1990 Wolfsburg Carat with new poptop.
