Not sure if this is a members bus here and I normally don't post locations but there is a decent Wild Westerner High Top here on the side of the road. It's not hidden at all but this road isn't traveled much and can't be seen unless you drive by it. Eastern Oregon is a good place to find rust free buses.
Maybe someone ought to go after it?

yeah but google street view hasn't been through that area since 2012.
I'd like the 4door german rabbit parked by the corner there. but it's gone in the current satellite view. |

That's right. I can't see the Bus on this map, but it's there, right on the side of the road. _________________ 71 Westy 1600 DP, all stock Bus 1

You can change the street view to 2009 and it's there under a tarp.

It seems to me that somebody with a lot of computer savvy might be able to make a program to scan satellite photos for recognizable shapes, especially unusual shapes like VW T-1 and T-2 and Porsche 356.
Then just run the program and sit back then examine the results. I'm certain the US military already has such software and they know where most all tanks, missile carriers and all sorts of military hardware is and no doubt are monitoring the cameras in real time. But probably none of that software is in public domain.
That would put a whole new value to Google Earth. _________________ Al Brase

My opinion:
The public doesn't have access to the resolution needed for this to accurately work. _________________ How to Post Photos

This thread has been really quiet lately. Here is my new find, 1971 double cab. The last time it was driven was 1991, it has been stored inside a garage since 1991. I found it here in Las Vegas, NV about fifteen miles from home. It wasn't advertised for sale. I got the lead from a friend of a friend, he heard me talking about my VW double cab and told me his neighbor had one in his garage. I didn't pursue it right away as I didn't have the money or space at that time, but today was the day it all came together.

Hello, Sweet!
Just what I'm looking for. To replace the one sold in the late 90s.
How much you want for it? |

Hello,
There is the correct rear apron for a 71(two bolts) in the classifieds for $100, earlier today.
Wow, it still retains the correct colored Ca. license plate from that era. It needs to come back too California.... |

Thanks, the seller told me he wanted a double cab for years and he wanted a bay window 1971 only. He started looking in the late 1980’s which was before the internet. He lived in Las Vegas, but looked in CA and AZ to try to find the nicest, one available. He looked in newspapers and recycler papers. He told me he looked at several but most were already really beat up as they were used as work trucks for 20 years. He told me this was the nicest one he could find. He found it in westminister, ca. He drove it home all the way to Las Vegas and parked it in his garage. Once he got it here he decided it needed to be restored, it wasn’t showroom perfect. So he never drove it again and parked it in the garage to save up money to have it restored to perfect. He bought all new rubber seals and taillights and turn signals. The bed is beat up and has numerous dents and dings from it being a work truck. The seller is now about to retire and move out of state and he decided he would never get this truck restored so he sold it to me. _________________ September 1964 Standard Sunroof walk through SWR/BG original paint. |

Early 71's could still have a 4 bolt apron. My 9/70 manufacture does.
