Hello,
There is the correct rear apron for a 71(two bolts) in the classifieds for $100, earlier today.
Wow, it still retains the correct colored Ca. license plate from that era. It needs to come back too California.... |
Early 71's could still have a 4 bolt apron. My 9/70 manufacture does.
Awesome double cab! |
Thats correct, it also has the early round rear fender lip which is also an early 71 detail. |

Hello,
Well, it looks like the Germans wanted to save some money by eliminating the two inner capture nuts by June of 1971. No nuts, there on mine... So, only the two bolt apron would be correct.

OPEN FOR AN OFFER. Selling my 500 SL. The Wife says to keep the Corvette and sell it. Has new drilled and slotted rotors and ceramic pads and new battery. Needs drivers side power window switch. Just put good tires and rims on it. and discovered mice ate some wires on the fuel injection on the passenger side on top of the engine.. Ran great before. Might consider trade for Enclosed trailer, VW camper van or something 4-wheel drive or 4×4 pickup or side by side. |

Very many of us old school VW guys know him. Ron B. formerly of Zearing, Iowa. Moved to Walsenberg, CO maybe 12 years ago.
Always has air cooled VW's for sale.
This guy:

Ron is the guy that about 15 years ago had the Binz double cab for sale that had rolled down a mountain and crashed.
I shoulda bought that one! _________________ Al Brase

1969 hightop. Pretty straight and clean. Will need to take a pic of the interior that was removed years ago and pretty bad, but no worries I'll make it look good. Happy to find it.

Not a find, but hoping for a found?
This is my old 1973, 9 passenger. Sold in hard times back years ago and always think about it. Last I heard it ended up in England. Anyone know the Bus?

Today's bus find!!! This Titian red 1968 deluxe needed rescued. She's been sitting out in the weeds a long time. Someone was nice enough to cover up the 15in. Bus wheels with Whitewall Firestones & stuff a bunch jalousie Windows in back too.

Wide whitewalls on bus 15's, on an early bay. That looks really weird. _________________ nothing |

Also weird that they are a date matching set of Dec. 1957 rims, 2 crows foot, 2 not crows foot.

Lemmerz and Kronprinz were apparently about equal suppliers. It is a rare bus that does not have a mix of the two brands.
BTW those Firestone wide whites are pretty special. too big to fit an actual VW correctly. 6.70-15 as compared to 6.40-15. _________________ Al Brase

Later rims and lots of Jalousie windows? Looks like a bay with some cool stuff added. Those Westfalia windows alone will get you moving towards a black ledger on the purchase of that bus for sure. _________________

I think the hightop bus needs some jalousie windows, but yes lots of parts I will likely sell out of this bus. Had a pair of low back type 3 seats in there, and an old Oval window pedal assembly for my 53 beetle, and a bunch brake drums & & &.......

Picked my old ‘72 from its “resting” spot down in Georgia. After passing on a few other options, decided it was the best candidate for some work and time. It was a spot that a friend has along the Hudson River. So, it has been named...Hudson.
This pic was a few years ago. It had been sitting for about 25 years.
We pulled it out of the woods a couple years ago to get it away from the growing trees and to let the sun dry it out.
Here he is all loaded up in the trailer for the 1000 mile trip north to NH.
Probably not worth the time, $$$, or effort. _________________ You can't be a real country unless you have a beer and an airline. It helps if you have some kind of a football team, or some nuclear weapons, but at the very least you need a beer. Zappa
