I don’t see a problem as long as it’s torqued

They're in their tight. Couldn't get them free after torquing them down and trying to remove them.

The thing I can see being an issue is corrosion. Normally that boot would sit there and keep moisture at bay. Seems now that moisture can come in and slide down into where the pieces meet?

Pretty sure the boot is there to keep crap out of the ball. If it bothers you, get some rtv and coat the shaft but surface rust on the shaft isn’t an issue

Definitely the main purpose of the boot. Just trying to overcomplicated things with my bus as usual. I've torqued em down and I'm going to run it as it is.

Tape off the boot and paint it.
