And kudos to both of you.
The time spent is a testament to your love for each other and the van.
I respect both equally.

Your pictures have been beautiful on your other feeds.

SHOUT OUT!!! Anyone who has followed this thread knows that Greg pretty much rebuilt the whole van, inside and out. He designed and made many parts himself, but we also got a box from GoWesty just about once a week once the van started coming together. We knew before we left home that we were going to stop by and see the folks that provided so many quality parts, and we were ecstatic when we joined GoWesty’s list of Sponsored Adventurers!
Greg’s perfectionism meant that we didn’t have much left to add by the time we got to California, but GoWesty put some finishing touches on the van that took it from ‘gearing up in California’ to ‘on the road in Mexico.’ We had good times with these good people, and we left with some good parts. It was the first time Greg trusted anyone else to touch the van, but we knew it was in good hands.
They’ve also taken great care of us since then…the only parts that have busted along the way were the only original ones that Greg didn’t replace or redesign, and GoWesty came to the rescue. A new coolant expansion tank, a new power steering tank, and power steering rack got us back on the road. All this is on top of the parts that we ordered from them before we were official Westy Adventurers, which are sprinkled throughout this thread. Their passion for Westys and adventure shows in the quality of their products and their enthusiasm for trips like ours.
Here’s NON-exhaustive list of the things we love from GoWesty.
the front skid plate, which has saved our from these crazy roads AND serves as extra storage
the high lift jack, for getting out of the occasional sand trap
a skylight cover so we can sleep in
high beam kit
air compressor
fresh transmission oil
balance and alignment
USB ports installed
the poptop rainfly
waterproof roofrack bags
mosquito screens
some seriously good quality swag that we wear most days
all sorts of spare parts, just in case

Good people, good clothes, good times! We LOVE the GoWesty T-shirts that we got in October. The material is soft, the cut is right, and they LAST. As in, we wear them most days, wash them on rocks, and dry them in the sun, and they haven’t frayed or faded! We were excited to get some new T-shirts recently, plus these comfy jackets. If they do such a good job on their clothes, you KNOW you can count on the quality of their true passion…Westy parts.

Sponsors really do help out big time.
In my past I have had the help of many.

I see that the alignment was part of the work done.
Boy the spare tire in the one picture above sure took a beating Shocked
What gives?

When syncrogreg is on the loose, tires drop like flies. Which is why we had to make that pit stop in Bahia Blanca at the BFG store to bargain for some new ones.
Looking forward to meeting up with you guys soon with our van as we begin our travels and venture into van life. You've gotta teach me how to get all of those sweet sponsorships Wink Maybe I just need to work on my French accent.

I imagine that the roughed up spare was the result of a trail-alignment post steering rack swap Question

Great pics - Again!

I'll tour the world in our van someday too (at least more parts of it) Cool

It was rusted all around. When you have a good syncro base and you want a syncro westy badly you have to sacrifice somewhere....

At least you gave tribute by keeping the baby blue color for the build. Old 2wd would be proud.

Yes it had missing windows in the back and front and sat for about 12 years... you can imagine what I'm talking about...

I'm driving a lot anyway so it counts for at least 3 vans Razz
