I was sure I've posted a picture of my Ghia earlier (I bought it in 2000) but couldn't find it with search so it's probably lost (with my old account).

Anyway, it was outdated so here's a current one:

Temporary plates as it hadn't been inspected (it is now) since 2009 when the engine worn out totally and it took some years to repair the engine (other projects, no money etc.).

Mild upgrade at the same time, 1915cc engine with double DellOrtos.

Just picked it up from detailers: clay bar, hand wax. Paint is 7 years old and still looks pretty good.

^^^ Great looking Ghia...nice to see you've resisted the pressure to slam it. A perfect compromise of looks vs drivability. Euro style bumpers give the front a clean look but I have to say I'm not a fan of "eyebrows" on the Ghia...makes it look half asleep.

Otherwise, perfect. Smile

I know this is off topic but building a 1973 Ghia and would like to use the colour that Nicolas Wlostowski’s 1973 Karmann Ghia has on his show car. Does anyone know the colour? Any help would be great and thanks

Perhaps this has already been discussed, but that is a very interesting Karmann Ghia stripe decal you have along the lower sides of you car.
I like it.

I have every intention of running a similar stripe since I will not be using chrome side molding. Very nice ghia by the way...

At first I didn't know what to think of it, it came on the car when I got it. It was giving me an American muscle vibe. But over time, I've come to kind of like it.

My understanding is that the car was painted by the PO and no one knows what the name of the color is.....

Here's mine. Got it May 2014 for my 50th. Still needs a paint job, Engine was rebuilt a few years ago. So far in 1 1/2 year I've had the bearings changed, the horn and starter fixed, replaced the solenoid (that was quite an adventure searching for one since they don't manufacture them). Also had TMI upholstery installed over the Spring. Just got it back today after having the master cylinder replaced. Looks like I'm good to go for some Fall driving!

To do list: Replace the dash pad and dash, new door interior panels, of course paint exterior and replace headliner. That's pretty inexpensive to do, right? Very Happy

Jen

Yes… Almost free… [cough, cough, ahem, excuse me something got caught in my throat] Paint looks pretty good from the distance that most of the pictures were taken. Enjoy it first, worry about that other stuff over the winter, next winter, or winter after. (Driving a Ghia on a salted road is strictly disallowed anyway, if you're in that part of the east coast.) You can take it easy on the details, given that most people are going to greet the car with "Wow, I love your… Porsche?"

Anyway, nice Ghia, and welcome to the group! Always good to see another "east coaster" around here.

Thanks. It's crazy hot here on the East Coast. Hoping for a break in the weather so I can start driving her again. Agreed. Definitely no driving in the salt. It's funny. The young ones never can figure out what kind of car it is Smile
