Well it's NEVER Too early to look ahead to warmer days, star filled nights of VW stories around the campfire.

Click here to print: ---> 2011 NY State VW camping Schedule

WELCOME BACK TO EMPIRE VW CAMPING Club's events listings for 2011. our 5th season.
Empire VW camping is open to ALL those who want to camp with their VWs and VW minded people, you can come in your bug, buggy, jetta or westfalia just bring the love of the outdoors, NYS parks and VWs along with bug spray and good spirits Wink

believe it or not the 2011 season will be upon us in quick fashion. with Sites available to book 9months out, it's Oct 2010 and we can now book in July 2011, It's far easier to book early and cancel a reservation than to wait till the last minute and not have a site available with the VWs because some monsterous 5thwheel family took it 1st. so BOOK EARLY, BOOK NOW!

Also check out our EMPIRE Yahoo E-Newsgroup for site recommendations, updates and to find other VWs headed in your direction to caravan with

___We are booking sites for some already chosen dates in 2011
(camping loops suggested are on the 2nd page on the RIGHT side column.)
To make sure you have the spot next to your friends and not some RV or motorcoach. SITES CAN and would be recommended to book as soon as possible before the season even starts.

not convinced this is the family orientated VW fun time for you.. Check out our previous years locations and images. look for the Empire galleries
Where We've been Central NY State.

If you have any questions on Empire VW camping club events check in on the EMPIRE Yahoo E-Newsgroup

VW camping at Fillmore Glen State park this weekend May 20-22
http://nysparks.state.ny.us/parks/157/details.aspx

For this weekend’s Empire VW Camping at Fillmore Glenn State park in Moravia, the Stevens’ will unfortunately be coming down on Saturday morning.
With the fact that we’ve only just begun the test drives after a major driveline exchange and the bad brake parts we’ve had to fix (what else we don’t yet know).
I’ve my fair share of worries to not push our luck in a Friday rush hour hurry.

With our brake concerns I’ve plotted a route from Syracuse that avoids both the Ugly I-81 hills & the very steep grades (up & back down) to get over Summerhill into Moravia. The descent into Locke NY along Rt90 is very long & steep with an abrupt stop at the base in the small town.
Rt222 into Groton isn’t any easier.
So we’ll be taking a 13mi longer (more scenic) route that I’d recommend for anyone else who is concerned with power or brakes (or both)

Also to remember that VWCCNY member Jon Ryan who is a honey bottler (the bees produce it) has graciously agreed to offer a tour of his processing facility (The Honey House) on Sunday afternoon (VW group departing the park @ noon on Sunday) so please feel free to come out and join us even if you don’t get a chance to make it camping.

Jill & Charles, you can catch this route in Tully by taking Rt 13 down to Rt80 (westward to Tully) then turn onto Rt281 and follow directions.
Richard & Sherrie, a run down thru Jamesville and Apulia road through Kevin’s neck of the woods would be smoother than a run on I81 also.

direcitons to Fillmore Glen from Syracuse w/o highway hills or the BIG steep hill into Locke, NY
a note the turn off to Freeville is *just before* the A&W restaurant if anyone is thinking of catching a rootbeer float on the way out or back from Moravia.
I’ve driven these roads a few times and they’re nice, scenic and DON’T SPEED in small towns Wink

Looking forward to seeing other VW campers and this’ll be our 1st camping of the season..
