Best E.T on DOT M&H tires is 11.89 @111mph. It spun the tires pretty hard because I had 19 psi in the tires not wanting to brake the trans. I drive this car to work, take the kids to school and around town. I do not consider it a long distance driver, more of a hot rod around town and short distance driver. Trans is geared way to low for highway driving, 4.12 R/P with a 1.21 4th gear. It drives like a stocker until you put your foot in it. The efi ECU has an internal two step and I have a line lock installed. Pretty fun to put it on the two step at a stop light. I have a short vid testing the two step on our CB face book page.

Hey do you have the "1187 Builder's Choice Engine Kits - 220 HP 2387cc - The Big Power Signature Kit" because i didn't see nothing about EFI on the kit list... but i wanted to know do you have to buy the EFI system separate?

90.5 pistons and cylinders I found here in the classifieds
CB 2241 cam 240*@.050" .424" With 1.1 rockers
Brazil lifters (cam and lifters were broke in together and had many miles but checked out!)
G03 heads I bought from DRD a few years ago. 40x35 valves, single heavy springs, 55cc chambers.
8:1 compression
Aluminum pushrods and stock 1.1 rockers

Built it for a friend and had it in my bug for a while with dual HPMX 40 carbs, CB Magnaspark, CB 1.5" merged header with a Bugpack hideaway muffler.

It is pretty damn quick, 3-5k is its happy place although I rarely rev it to 5 because of the stock crank. It will be getting dual kadrons and a 1-3/8 exhaust with heater boxes so that might tame it a bit. A solid easy-to-build combo for the first time builder, the only problem is once you drive it you'll wonder what a 2332 will do Very Happy

I keep hearing the term "full flowed". What exactly does that mean?

Means the oil galley has been drilled and tapped to run an external oil filter and have the oil circulate much better. Hopefully I explained it correctly.

Not a clue how much power but will have it on a dyno within the next month and a half or so. I'm sure it will be enough to give me a big grin when I step on the long, skinny pedal.

Image is prior to taking the tin to the powder coater. Test fitting and trimming....and the cylinder went in the trash...I opted for OE German cylinder tin....better fit...much better fit.

Here is a torqey engine that resides in a beach buggy. It was actually built about 6 years ago, but it never got really dialed in until today. Good power for the set up. Easy to drive.

Almost new mag case
Old Racemaster 78 mm crankshaft w. type 1 rod journals. 13,5 lbs 200 mm flywheel. Balanced.
KEP stage 1 clutch with a Daikin disc.
Scat H beam rods w. ARP 2000 bolts.
FK8 cam, SLR lifters.
Shadek 26 mm oil pump, Scat FF cover.
94 mm. Mahle cylinder set. Balanced, +/- 0,5 gr.
CB push rods.
CNC round port cylinder heads ”out of the box”. Only minor adjusting at the intake flange. 9,5 CR.
CB 1,4 Rockers.
MB short manifolds with 44 Idf carburettors, 36 mm venturies and 1 5/8” stacks.
009 distributor w. Compufire module. Pertronix 3 ohm coil.
Regular 30 hp aftermarket shroud, front mounted thermostatic controlled oil cooler. Stock size pulleys.
Turbo Thomas 1 5/8” sidewinder, small flange, with twin ”motorcycle” mufflers, one on each side of the engine.

More tuning to come with this combo. Wideband, then wheel dyno. I think there's more power all around and a little higher in the RPM range.

2276
94 AA Pistons/Cylinders
82 SCAT Crank - VW jrl
Engle V26 cam
EMPI 1.52:1 rockers
SCAT straight cuts
5.4 SCAT H-Beam rods
12 lb flywheel
SCAT 71 gram Window lifters
Norris Aluminum HD pushrods
Brothers VW Mid D heads 42x37, dual springs, shimmed .080" before bind
9.8:1 static compression, the 9.0 on the chart is a mistake
AA 1 5/8" Sidewinder and muffler
EMPI HPMX 3 44mm, 36 vents, offset manifolds
Pertronix 3 billet distributor and modern coil
Crankcase evacuation modifications

I know this thread is for built/working combos and I'm rebuilding a 2165 to make it 2276-2332 (parts labeled "en route" are related to the increase in cc's) but I should be good for partial credit and I'll provide more detail and the results over the coming weeks.

2165cc AS21 full flowed with 8mm studs/case savers and double thrust cam bearings, cut for 94mm barrels and cleared for at least 78mm crankshafts.

Mahle 94mm forged aluminum pistons w/ steel cylinders

Dynamically balanced SCAT 78mm c/w crankshaft w/ OEM rods

Engle FK-89 w/ straight cut gears

Engle lightweight lifters (en route)

aluminum pushrods

S/E head castings cut for 44/37.5's but currently with 42/37.5 SS valves, retainers, dual springs, a solid rocker kit (bugpack?) using OEM arms and vented OEM valve covers, ID of the exhaust ports are 1 1/2"

unmarked oil sump w/ an estimated 4 qt capacity

bugpack breather box

(target) CR: 12.601:1

(target) deck height: 0mm w/ 1.016mm spacer(s) (en route)

(target) chamber size: 42cc

welded/balanced cooling fan (en route)

1 5/8" full merged exhaust header with dual mufflers (en route)

48 IDA's w/ under-the-deck intakes (en route)

.009 based ignition system (details tbd)

90 amp "Dual-Cool" Alternator (en route)

Torque Bar (en route)

IRS Transaxle (Late Style):

KEP Stage 3 Pressure Plate w/ 4 puck disc

Mid Mount (en route)

HD cross shaft (en route)

the other relevant parts are OEM...for now.

Blast from the past, but it ran well and had some features I haven't seen anyone using. This was in the 70's and 80's 1904cc Fiberglass everything, tube chassis, fully adjustable suspension,.. Pulled the wheels up a foot and a half every pass and carried them past the tree.

Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

My drag car ran a best of 10.23 @ 128 mph......this photo was a little earlier in the process. Dialed a 10.65 looks like.

I used

AS41 case
Berg 74 mm crank
Berg prepped stock VW rods
90.5 Mahle forged pistons
Rotating components balanced by Berg
42 X 37.5 welded heads by someone in California (had a Japanese name??)
48 IDA's on methanol (later went to 25% nitro/methanol)
old, worn out stock oil pump
berg filter adapter (went on the stock cooler holes on the case)
Berg 4 quart sump
12 lb. flywheel
Kennedy clutch plate
Berg 3 puck sintered bronze disc
MSD ignition
FK87 cam
Berg lifters
Berg chro-moly pushrods
Berg titanium retainers
Berg springs
Berg 1.4 rockers and shafts
Big drag extractor with a long collector

Shifted at 8K....the trans had all the usual stuff done to it for the time period. I broke it 3 times, but never tore up the motor.

14 to 1 compression....methanol will take a butt load of compression, the more the merrier. I got talked into adding nitro methane by the guy I was buying the alky from. It ran good on it, so I kept using it.

I used a stock oil pump and hit the traps with 30 pounds of oil pressure. A trick I learned from the old NHRA econo dragster classes. You don't need a 100 psi pump. Also I made a home brew pan evacuation system by welding in a "whistle" in the exhaust collector and plumbing it to 1/2 inch tubes I welding into the valve covers. It pulled a vacuum in the case and made the oil spray (which at 8 grand is a lot) fall to the bottom rather than being thrown around and making the pistons, rods and crank chop through it all. The first pass I made after the vacuum system was developed sucked the valve cover gaskets into the head!!! I had to glue the gaskets to the covers with 3M trim cement.
