whats the best and cheapest way to lower the front end on a 71 bug??? i have ideas but just want other opinions...

Well, as stated in the question below. The Spindles are best...(and most expensive) But the beam is second best....Never try to remove any leaves out of the torsion arms...it's dangerous. check the question below yours for more info.

I'll second that.. I bought a 65 beetle from SOCAL that had leaves taken out of the top portion of the beam and my car rides like a tank. As one of my good friends put it "it's like driving a mechanical bull down the road"

I'm switching to spindles and a beam.

ahh don't mess up a beetle by lowering it, keep it original.

What up bignatedogg, if it's a superbeetle (71), check out pacific customs modified struts and inserts. It's basically your strut cut down a few inches and a rabbit strut insert but theirs are adjustabe. Plus, use your own springs. We've used em on a few different cars and they ride better than stock. You'll need a 135 or 145 size tire in the front though so it won't rub. If it's a standard beetle with a beam and all that, get the dropped spindles from CB performance. I got those on my vert and they make the ride nice. Peace
