Very slick setup. Only one issue from my perspective. How were you planning on engaging/disengaging the winch when it's buried in the muck you are stuck in?

Or did you assume that you'd always power in/power out?

Powering out is a VERY energy hungry mode, and is why most winches have a "freewheel" or "free-spool" setting. Also, if the winch has popped out of gear, you won't be able to re-engage it without digging out, lifting, and/or moving the van.

Maybe cut an access hatch in the floor to be able to reach around the back of the winch from the top, to get your hands on the lever?

ARB bull bars (where the winch fits inside) on trucks like landcruisers and Jeeps have this issue, too. Often you have to take the winch apart to re-clock the lever in a position that is accessible.

Otherwise, I really do like your design. VERY clean.
