I'm starting to get little wafts of bus stink coming from the north. Something about the unique scent of drivers seat padding when it's glued together with mouse piss and shit that really gets me going... and I'm smelling it! Oh yeah! Time to start loading up the equipment. |

It matters because winter jam screwed tons of people last year and now some promotion
company bought the rights to it and are trying to pass it off as some premier event |
Anyone that worked for WinterJam & was supposed to get paid last year, was paid
last year either at the event, or after the event when accounting was completed.
To our knowledge there is no one in the VW scene that was involved in the event last
year that is owed money. If there is anyone that worked for WinterJam & feel you
are owed money, and can provide something in writing, please contact us & we will
gladly rectify the situation.
In regards to prize money for the 3 participants @ the H2O Show, yes it was
overlooked at the event. It was not an intentional oversight. There were 3 events
running at the same time that day, and sometimes things do get overlooked.
The previous winterjam owner took care of those enthusiasts that were owed
money the week after winterjam was over in 2010 & we have proof of that.
The DVD situation has also been taken care of by us. Anyone that purchased
a DVD can go to the winterjam website and contact us. There is an article in the
NEWS section since July 2010, that states that if you purchased a DVD, your
money would be refunded, plus you would get a free winterjam t-shirt, plus
you will get a free DVD.
We understand that there is no WinterJam without the enthusiasts. That' why we
no longer put the burden of paying for everything at WinterJam on them. The $10
advance ticket price will be more inexpensive for the majority of enthusiasts
bringing their vehicles, then in previous years when paying $25 & $30 registration
fees. Plus all Kids 12 & under are free w/ adults.
As much as we wish it was true, that we could get rich on this venture, the truth is,
this is a labor of love. To this point, Winterjam has always been run in the red. It
takes alot of VW's paying $25 per car to cover the $60,000 it costs to produce
& promote a unique event like WinterJam. Plus it takes a full staff working full time
almost all year to get everything done, so that the enthusiasts have an enjoyable
experience. Unfortunately the previous owner, was not able to keep up with the
constant monetary demands that winterjam required to keep it afloat each year. He
poured his heart & thousands of his hard earned money into this event in the 1st
few years just to get it off the ground. He turned it from a local club event, into an
internationally known VW festival in just 3 shorts years, without any major backing,
corporate sponsorships, corporate partners, or ticket fees. The event grew bigger
then he could sustain on his own. He even offered to give WinterJam (at no cost)
to the others who volunteer each year. Unfortunately those guys turned him down
because they realized how much work it was to organize and promote. That's why
my company purchased WinterJam this summer. If I didnt purchase it, WinterJam
wouldve have dissappeared completely & only been a distant memory. As a VW owner
myself, I couldnt do that to the Scene, letting a great event die.
As for the other show some of you have mentioned, we do not believe in speaking ill
of other Volkswagen enthusiasts or other shows, however we will make this comment,
that this is not our style (new owners & old owners), to ever put on a similar
show on the same day or weekend as another show 5 miles of an established
show. However, we would like to thank the all of the 100's of VW Bus & Aircooled
enthusiasts from the USA & abroad that have purchased tickets & registered
for the
event this year, even if they dont post it on the Samba.
To all the Volkswagen Shop owners who have supported WinterJam in the Past:
We hope to regain your support for WinterJam & the scene me mutually love!
Best Regards,
Scott C.
Chief Executive Enthusiast
PS: WinterJam is the Premier VW, Sports & Music Festival in the USA..! It is fashioned
after European VW Festivals. It's mission has always been to provide the best possible
VW show experience, plus add all the other activities that Festivals are known for.
It was never intended to be a traditional show like the VW Classic, Bugoramas,
BugIn Events or any of the other larger VW Shows here in the USA. Premier, by
definition means first of its kind. Which we can rightfully state! _________________ www.DaytonaWinterJam.com

ya, My wife is still kicking me for it but it's ok, I'm just glad WinterJam is going to be around. I have a pretty good day job so if we can get it to pay for its self or come close i'll be happy
I think one thing that everyone can agree on. If you own a Classic VW shop or work in the scene that theres not much money in it, but very few people in life get to work at something they love like we do. _________________ www.DaytonaWinterJam.com

Bubba,
I noticed that you posted on your thread that we are charging $25 dollars to the bus and then charging $10 for spectators.
I think this is a miss understanding. There is NO FEE TO ENTER A BUSS OR CAR in ANY OF OUR SHOWS. there is only a spectator ticket fee.
I thought it wasnt fair that the guys and gals who put there blood sweat and tears into there rides had to also pay for the event with the registration fee. So I made it a spectator ticket with kids free so that the overwelming majority would be cheaper.
There is a two day or person pass for $25 dollars but it includes T-shirt. So people are just getting an event T at my cost.
I hope this clears up any confution and I'm not going to post this on your thread but I would appresiate if you made the correction. _________________ www.DaytonaWinterJam.com

OK, Ok let me get this str8 so i can get it right on the other tread. It is very hard to track of your ever changing gate fees.
Lets say, I want to drive my bus to your show on Sunday, (I'm a little busy on Saturday) so the 2 day thing doesnt work for me. But remember I'm a lazy bastard so I dont do all that pre registration stuff. I want to drive my bus, bring my beautiful wife, our 2 outstanding children and my beloved dog Fido. How much is it going to cost me to entry your wonderful festival? _________________ ***WANTED***
